Loved it!!!

This book is by far my favorite from Woodiwiss. I have read it many times. When I saw it would be offered on Audible, I pre ordered it. I do not regret my decision. It is a job well done.

Loved it AGAIN

I read this book when it first came out in the 70s. I loved it then and I loved it even more now. I was a bit nervous about the Audible against the book, but it was exceptional. Kathleen writes in a way that touches your heart. This is what I will listen to again and again over the years. I hope you will enjoy it as I do these mini years. 

Favorite book of all time!

Depth of characters and story are amazing! Favorite author and book ever. I wish Woodiwiss had written so many more wonderful stories!

Remains a favorite

I grew up with this story. I never thought it would make audio as it’s not full of feminist rewrites of historical reality. Strong heroine and honorable hero.

I normally don’t care for Rosalyn Landor’s male voices but she did well on this one.

A Classic

The first romance novel I read over thirty years ago. Was looking forward to listening on audio for a while. Unfortunately I can’t get into the narrator and that’s a deal breaker. If the narrator is a distraction instead of an enhancement then future books from them is a no for me

No whining female lead.

The strength and intelligence of the main characters. Great supporting characters. Good detailed description of historical time period and settings of where things take place.

Enchantingly Wonderful story

Kathleen never disappoints! This may be my favorite. Gets all your emotions going in an intriguing way. Characters are amazing.

My favorite book! (Edited review)

I am editing my original review because I feel I was way to harsh on Ms. Landor about the narration. The Wolf & the Dove has been my favorite book for 40 years. Wulfgar was my first crush! When you read a print book you build the characters in your head; when it is a favorite book you read over and over these characterizations become so solidified that hearing the book from another perspective feels like betraying a friend. After going back and listening to the book a couple more times I no longer think Ms. Landor did as bad as I first thought. I do, however, find fault with Harper Audio for not trying to find someone who sounds a little more like an 18 year old, since that is the age of Aislinn, the lead female character. The voice Ms. Landor uses for Aislinn is very nasal, the portrayal of Wulfgar is far to refined for a career mercenary, and there is not enough difference in the mail voices to be able to differentiate between them the majority of the time. Kathleen E Woodiwiss has been my favorite author for 40 years. Learning that her books were available as audiobooks was a dream come true! I think Ms. Landor is an excellent narrator, just not for a historical romance with young lead characters. Or maybe it’s just that Ashford McNab spoiled me with her work on The Flame and the Flower and Ashes in the Wind!
I am NOT editing my original complaint with the preface they have added to all K.E.W. books. It’s insulting to her as an author and degrading to the listeners. Please disregard that portion, or better yet just skip past it.

Woodiwiss has no equal when it comes to historical romances. She draws you in to each character’s life to where you think of them as family…except for the villains of course. She was a master storyteller and I enjoyed this walk down memory lane immensely! This is one of my favorite books and I’m so happy you have added it to your offerings. It is magical!
