Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Enchanted Bay, a picture-perfect small town on the coast of Northern California.

Meg Walton comes from a long line of witches. It's a secret her family has been keeping for generations. The Waltons have been living a quiet existence, running the local donut shop in town. All that changes when a murder occurs.

Enter Connor Smith, Meg's former crush, who left for San Francisco 10 years before, and who has now returned to town as the new detective with the Enchanted Bay police department. If Meg's feelings were mixed enough over having Connor back in town, the detective wrongfully suspects one of Meg's good friends for murder.

To prove her friend's innocence, Meg has to find the real killer herself - with the help of a few good spells.

A Cozy Mystery

If you start this book with 'total fiction' in mind then it'll be a more enjoyable listen. However, if you're hoping for a fairly realistic story then you will be disappointed. The main characters can be a bit annoying, Meg for ignoring proper procedures and Conner for allowing her. The narration is very well done. Lainie Pahos did very well with the character voices and read at a nice pace. It is not so bad that I wouldn't take a chance on listening to the next book in the series.

Not what I expected

The lead character is a quirky witch who doesn't know when to leave well enough alone. Meg wasn't a likeable MC, I disliked her quite a bit by the end of the book. Meg investigates the murder like the police don't exist, I'm surprised she's not arrested herself! While it was somewhat entertaining I couldn't help but think about the murderer who was going to go free because Meg compromised the investigation by pretending to be a police officer.

I won't be continuing with this series, the best part was the narration. The character voices are easy to tell apart and the delivery is a match for the tone of the book.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Cozy Mystery

The story is not really believable and I am not talking about the spell either. That is why I gave it three stars but I did like the narrator.
Would I listen or read the next in the series? Yes I would. This sort of book is easy on the brain. So if you want to get away from things without having to use your brain cells as much then this book is for you.

Cute witchy mystery

This book was a cute mystery with a few twists and turns along the way. I did enjoy it..
When a murder happens in Enchanted Bay, Meg (the witch) needs to help solve it before her very best friend is framed for it. In walks her ex-boyfriend, Connor, who is a policeman who just moved back to Enchantment Bay...

ENCHANTED BAY IS GREAT!

Although horror/PA books are my usual favorites, I'm developing a nice liking for cozies! Especially the ones with witches or ghosts :)

Meg Walton is a witch living in Enchanted Bay, although the town doesn't know. A long-lost crush returns to Enchanted Bay, Connor, and he's working for the Enchanted Bay PD. He believes one of Meg's friends is responsible for a recent murder, so Meg's on a mission to prove him wrong. With a little witchy goodness added!

It's not long but packed full of fun and entertainment, I enjoyed the listen, and would definitely listen to more from the author, and narrator! :)

Fun, Cozy, and Short

I really enjoy listening to and discovering new authors and narrators. Amelia Morgan wrote a fun cozy mystery that is pure escapism and delightful to listen to. I know its not possible to cast spells, and so the escapism begins. The basis of the book is full of good intentions, there is chemistry, and a satisfactory ending. I thought the performance by Lainie Pahos was great. She gave characters distinguishable voices. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I would listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Kind of boring and unrealistic

I just was not overwhelmed with this book. The story line was actually kind of boring and you just wanted to slap Meg. Meg steps into a murder mystery, here ex boyfriend is a detective and lets her have the upper hand in the investigation. She was very rude. I just did not like her at all. The narration wasn't too bad but if I had to have a conversation with the best friend Lisa I would stab rusty nails into my ears. Her voice was terrible. Lainie Pahos at times ran through parts of the book like she was even bored.

I would love to have some of those enchanted donuts though. Eat as many as you want and not gain any weight.

Cozy Mystery

Overall this was an okay story - it was a tad to predictable for my liking. I think because it is on the shorter side it is lacking in character and story development. I would have liked more magic and mystery. The way the main character takes it upon herself to investigate the murder is a bit of a stretch - just because someone watches alot of detective shows does not make then a detective. The narrator did a great job bringing the story and characters to life
