Publisher's summary
Grab your lace shawl and top hat and get ready to twirl—this is a full-throttle appreciation of the life and voice of Stevie Nicks from one of rock criticism’s most celebrated writers.
Best-selling author and Rolling Stone columnist Rob Sheffield explores the music and artistry of the rock goddess who has kept generations of music lovers totally bewitched and spellbound, with such classic rock hits as "Rhiannon" and "Gypsy." With Stevie Nicks’s 2019 solo induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the time is right to uncover the stories behind the songs you love. Learn about the people, places, and events that have influenced her work—and why Nicks’ music is as powerfully alluring today as it was when you first heard it decades ago.
Drawing from Rolling Stone magazine’s extensive archives, and his long time appreciation of Nicks, Sheffield shares the stories behind the best-selling records and the spitfire 1997 Fleetwood Mac reunion show that put the band back on top of the charts—and why Stevie Nicks still speaks to us today. A dynamic, revelatory sketch of the one-of-a-kind icon, The Wild Heart of Stevie Nicks is a portrait as revealing as it is dazzling, as human as it is pure magic

Just as Nicks (and Lindsay Buckingham) gave Fleetwood Mac the "shot of adrenaline" they needed to become real rock stars - according to Christine McVie - Gold Dust Woman is vibrant with stories and with a life lived large and hard.

As lead singer and songwriter for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis has lived life on the razor's edge. Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.

"Unvarnished. Funny. Leaving no stone unturned"...So say the publishers about this audiobook I've written. What I say is that this is the story of my life, told as clear as a Texas sky and in the same rhythm that I lived it. It's a story of restlessness and the purity of the moment and living right. Of my childhood in Abbott, Texas, to the Pacific Northwest, from Nashville to Hawaii, and all the way back again. Of selling vacuum cleaners and encyclopedias while hosting radio shows and writing song after song, hoping to strike gold.

Go Behind the Scenes with Rob Sheffield on The Wild Heart of Stevie Nicks
Our favorite moments from The Wild Heart of Stevie Nicks
Come for Stevie Nicks, stay for Rob Sheffield
Stevie Nicks is having a bit of a moment. Maybe it’s because mysticism, witches, and the occult are experiencing a revival, and who’s more witchy than the high priestess of rock ’n roll herself? For those who came to Fleetwood Mac late, like me, and have never been properly filled in on all the *rumours* (sorry) about their messy relationship drama, Rob Sheffield’s new essay is the perfect primer for what, exactly, went down in that bed that Fleetwood Mac posed on for the Annie Liebowitz- photographed Rolling Stone cover, as well as all the other juicy gossip—partner swapping, coke binges, and all. But what I love most about The Wild Heart of Stevie Nicks is how Rob Sheffield, one of my favorite pop music critics of all time, can take songs that have been played so many times they almost seem ordinary and make them feel magical again.

About the Author and Performer
Rob Sheffield is a columnist for Rolling Stone, where he has been writing about music, TV, and pop culture since 1997. He is the national best-selling author of Love Is A Mix Tape and Talking To Girls About Duran Duran: One Young Man’s Quest for True Love and a Cooler Haircut. His most recent books include On Bowie and Turn Around Bright Eyes: The Rituals of Love and Karaoke. His 2017 tribute to the Fab Four, Dreaming the Beatles: The Love Story of One Band and the Whole World, has been called "the best book about the Beatles ever written" by Mashable, and was honored with the Virgil Thomson Award for Outstanding Music Criticism. He lives in Brooklyn.

A bad recap of Rolling Stone interviews
If you like cheesy quotes of Fleetwood Mac lyrics worked tenuously into a Wikipedia article, this audiobook is for you. If you’re a Stevie Nicks fan looking for some deeper insight into a complicated artist, look elsewhere.

As much Fleetwood Mac as Stevie
This audio is presented by a head over heels fan of Stevie Nicks and comes off that way. It is also is a condensed version of Fleetwood Mac history. I understand maybe can't do one without the other but I was really looking for more Stevie.

Written by a fan
This is the worst book I have ever listened to. The author admits he is a fan. As such, it is purely subjective with no objectivity. He doesn't seem to have use of any original descriptors, seemingly only using lyrics from Nicks's own songs to describe her. When I want to hear Nicks's lyrics, I will listen to her songs, which I love.

Interested subject but poorly written.
I love biographies and autobiographies of musicians so this was an obvious choice but it was pretty disappointing. I recognized the narrator's voice, then noticed it was read by the author so I looked him up. I remember him from one of those vapid talking head vh1 shows where mincing hollywood insiders make snarky comments about performers trying to earn a living. I also saw that he'd written for rolling stone magazine, etc. No idea how someone that writes this way is this successful.
Many, many much better biographies of musicians. At least this was free, I'd have definitely returned it otherwise.

Sheffield Doesn't Understand Music
While I appreciate the love of any band, Sheffield's neurotic fetish with Fleetwood Mac is just depressing. This performance is nothing but poor, fallacy-ridden half-cocked interpretations of FM lyrics, and horrendous puns on FM lyrics because Sheffield has minimal writing talent.

Overview of Stevie’s relationship with Fleetwood Mac
I was interested in this because of my great admiration for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Obviously the main thrust of this essay is Fleetwood Mac. I didn’t feel particularly engaged or learn much about either group or Stevie herself. Fairly honest on the big issues the story never really gets going.

The wild heart of Stevie Nicks
Having listened to many Fleetwood Mac audio books and watched countless documentaries about the band, I thought I pretty much knew everything about them until I listened to this. This isn't only about Stevie but her relationship with the band and with her and Lindsay before meeting Mick. I thoroughly enjoyed this one

Stevie's gift to everyone who cares to listen
Stevie Nicks is an icon, a diva, a poet, feminist, songwriter, singer, survivor and thriver.
She began writing songs in high school, in the '60's, a fairly normal pastime for romantic creatives (though many remain at poetry) and is still inspired to write them to this day. Let that just sink in for a little while, 5 decades of being relevant and unapologetically herself. She writes it as she sees/feels it and those songs continue to resonate with people globally.
In the early days of the women's movement, she demonstrated how you could wear chiffon, velvet, lace, silk and still hold your own on a stage, with an audience, in a band and in your personal life.
This audio book is definitely written and read by a long time fan and it is worth a whirlwind listen into the life of the woman who created and is Stevie Nicks.

I really enjoyed this!
I chose this as it was included in my Audible subscription and honestly I really enjoyed it! I loved getting a little insight into the life of Stevie and the band. The author is obviously a big fan and that made the story telling really enjoyable! I want to listen to Mick’s story next!
