Would you listen to The Wicked Will Rise again? Why?

Yes, and I have, I've listened to both books a few times now. 1. The narrator is hilarious when speaking as some of the characters, particularly the queen of the monkeys. 2. I love all things Oz and all things "what happens next" I think any Oz lover will be compelled to listen over and over.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wicked Will Rise?

Queen Mab's court.

Which scene was your favorite?

The labyrinth fountain, finding out who Pete really is.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were times where I couldn't hold in the laughter, and times where I just wanted to slap some sense into the characters. Visceral reactions are a real thing for this book.

Book. Three. NOW.

I tried very hard to finish this book...

But even with listening on a higher speed just to get through it faster, I had to throw in the towel. One can only roll their eyes so many times before getting a headache.

Between gaping plot holes and the cyclical trap of Amy's drawn out, passionate declarations and promises (only to constantly shy away again and again when it comes to actually backing up any of her big game talk), I couldn't take it anymore. How many times is the author going to use this arbitrary plot device? It feels like a broken record.

The main character was given ample opportunity to grow, but just does the same things over and over again only to "magically" gain new abilities and story progression. Most of her dialogue is idiotic and the forced romance remains cringe worthy.

As for plot holes, so far almost everything in this book series has been explained away by coincidence (Hi2u Pixar's 19th Rule of Storytelling), if at all.

Critical reader beware. Luckily, Audible accepts returns.

I listened to this book in 3 days. I cannot wait for the next! I would pay a lot of money to get my hands on it! but I cannot believe I have to wait for the next for another two years! way to long!!

Gory, manic, and aimless rainbow skittles story

This four book series is just 16 year old Amy on repeat, blindly going along with witches, fairies, and wizards telling her to kill folks … with predictably bad results. This is like combining the good parts of the original Oz world with the crazy parts of Alice in Wonderland. This is all Mad Hatters, Cheshire Cats, and “off with her head” crazy ladies with made up super powers. The magic system is random. The violence is bloody and anime comical. It’s like a tub of rainbow tutti-frutti ice cream exploded in my head; technicolor brain freeze.

Each book is two steps forward, one step back, with zero character progression for Amy, and cliffhanger endings. Okay on sale and sped up to 1.5x, this didn’t keep up to the great concept that opened the series. Love the narrator, though.

Great story with horrible pace and filler!

All I could think about was Michael Peña's character in the movie Ant-Man. Every time Michael Peña would explain something to Paul Rudd's character... get to the point already. The character in the book Amy is portrayed as gullible, inexperienced, weak, and confused on who she is.... got it, no need to explain that nearly every chapter along with her multiple failures. Mark Twain said it best "I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead".

In conclusion to my thesis... I feel like I was punished for my purchase. Dorothy Must Die is 452 page's, The Wicked Will Rise is 293 page's, making that a grand total of 745 page's... and Dorothy is still alive.

Bad Ending

The whole bildup of the story was great, but the way it ended ruined the book.

This was an OK book.

It was a struggle to finish. And got a bit weird. Characters were boring.

love the narrator!!

This book really picked up the story. I love the magical world of OZ!!
The narrator is amazing and I love her Lulu voice, she sounds just like Arlene Sorkin's Harley Quinn from Batman the Animated series. I will be looking for more of her narrations.

The way this book is read is very entertaining, it feels really fast passed and overall i enjoyed the experience
