Cute idea but...

This book kept popping up everywhere and had such a high following that I was so excited when it released. Now, I had such high hopes, but this book disappointed me for several reasons.

First, the way that this was written, it should have been done as a duet. Since there was no chapters with alternating POV, it was a bit all over the place with the narrator doing her best to do both voices. If ever there was a book that needed to be done as a duet, it was this one.

Now, the biggest complaint that I had about this book was that the story line was cute, and had a lot of merit, but the characters were SOOOO insecure. I get that at the beginning of a relationship you question everything and aren’t as secure about everything, but as you get more comfortable with one another, you start to loosed up and become more confident. However, up until the very end, Alexa and Drew didn’t seem to like themselves very much, the insecurity was so much that I was so frustrated with the author for not allowing Alex or Drew to have any kind of self worth. They were so self-deprecating that it made me wonder why I even finished the book. I wish the book had shown how they grew as people or even as a couple, but their insecurities followed all the way through the end of the book, and it made me sad. Would I recommend this book? No, sadly not.

Love the romance but not the narrator

This narrator is very bad and emphasizes words too much. I really enjoy Guillory’s writing and the romance but the narrator is so distracting. Sad to say just read this one don’t listen.

Refreshing story

I loved the story and the characters were great, enjoyed the humor between the two as the story unfolded.

nice story to listen to during a commute. I was not however excited about the narrator. This is not her thing.

I Really Enjoyed this Story!

It was such a relatable story to my live! I really enjoyed it! I can't wait to listen to others from this author. It would make a great Netflix movie. It was so truthful of how Black/Brown are put into situations where they have been used to being the only one. I'm so glad the difficult conversations about those things were not left out. I hope something will be written in reverse of how different the white male is made to feel in a predominantly Black/Brown situation as well maybe for another tale?

I thank the author for her truths most of all in this story!

A Sucker for Romance

I'm a sucker for sweet romances and this was a wonderful opportunity to indulge my addiction. Of course there is always tension between to the characters but in this book it was well worth it.

Tear jerker

I really enjoyed listening to this book, despite the characters being a little annoying, frustrating and predictable. But overall if you want an escape, some smiles and some sexy moments, I recommend this book.

Once I started this book I couldn’t stop listening. What a great feel good story.

Wow! You’ve secured a new fan

I absolutely loved this story... though at some points I got mad at Alexa for her weight insecurities. However, everything she was saying has run through the minds of many! Even the most confident ones! Looking forward to the next book! I read The Proposal already so it was cute to hear Alexa and Drew’s story!!
