Publisher's Summary

Is it the job you hate but need in order to pay the rent? Is it that relationship that you gave your all to only to end up with a broken heart...again? Perhaps it's your children, a family member, or a life-long friend doing you in, dragging you down, pushing you to the brink. If you are an honorary member of the Black Woman's Suffering Society, you have probably been told that it's all your fault. Or that struggling and suffering is your lot in life. Iyanla Vanzant says, "No!" Life is an act of faith and suffering is optional! Those everyday challenges, obstacles, and dilemmas are what Iyanla calls "valleys". As bad as they may seem, there is a purpose or, as Iyanla says, "There is so much value in the valley".

If you've ever been disappointed, betrayed, rejected, abandoned, or just plain old scared to let go, then you've been or may still be in a valley. Iyanla knows; she's been there, and on a bad day, she's still there, but now she shares the way out with you.

Good book but way too short.

This is a great book. It gives great insight but leaves you wanting more. it doesn't get deeply into the story enough and it finishes too quickly, it feels rushed as if she didn't have time to finish it.

In your face truth that cannot be denied!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes..Iyanla speaks truths that many black women are afraid to face.

What did you like best about this story?

Iyanla tells it like it is...no holds barred!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

By the end of the book I understood that the universe does not create valleys to harm you. Valleys assist you in becoming your "best self"

Any additional comments?

Powerful read!!

absolute must have in your audiobook Library

what I like about this book is every black woman can relate to it. We have all been in the valley out some point in our lives. The author is poignant in each topic and how we can identify where we are in our life. This book is a must-have in the black woman's Library.

this was just what I needed to get things going

I'm so pleased that I got this book. it put things in perspective. the struggles that black women have can be a little different from those of other women. it's much harder for us to find inspirational and social tools due to the diversity of our issues.

Super inspirational and substance for your soul

I have the hard copy of this title so I was a little disappointed some of the content had been removed from the audio, especially the meditations. However the key principles are there! This should be a mandatory read for every black female and it's definately worth purchasing.
