What is the cost of victory?

In this breathtaking conclusion to the epic series, Ky, the pilot from the future, and Lucilla, Empress of Britannia, lead their empire to the climactic showdown against Carthage. The fight in conquered territories, rebelling against Carthaginian overlords, is over, and the battle on Carthage's home soil has begun. Britannia is stretched to the breaking point across a front as wide as the continent, as they begin the most difficult stage of the war. From blood-soaked battlefields to storm-tossed seas, their forces clash in desperate confrontations that will determine the fate of an empire.

The destiny of Britannia and who controls the Western world hangs in the balance in this monumental finale.

Fantastic. I need more of this. I can see what I think are some threads to either continue or have a sequel series

This can’t be the end

Wonderful character development and great foundation in history. I got totally pulled in. I’m sorry to have finished the series.

Totally engrossing!

Across the series, the narrative keeps looping through the same conflicts, revelations, and character beats, which drains the tension instead of escalating it. Each book feels like it’s stalling for time rather than driving toward something bigger. By the time the finale finally arrives, the resolution is surprisingly muted—an anticlimactic close that doesn’t justify the repetitive groundwork laid across multiple volumes, especially when I expected a surprising ending.

Not as promising as I thought

Spectacular series. Even the “slow” parts were engaging, building the story beautifully.

The subtle hints to the origin of the Eastern threat were very well done.

Cannot wait to start volume 2!!

End to a great first volume
