Time travel, yes!

I expect most science fiction fans will enjoy this story. Possibly the author's characterization could be better, but I didn't have an issue. The narration is well done. Totally worth the money and time.

Very well written and performed. I felt like I could see everything. The details are realistic and factually correct. I highly recommend it!

Great time travel/ military opps story

Only wish it could have been stretched out more. So many possibilities. Realistic interaction between the characters that took the possible 2D characters to reasonable 3D fleshed out portrait of each as could be done within the confines of such a relatively short story. Realistic tech descriptions and speculations.

It's worth a credit. Although like every time travel plot, it cops out at the end. No good way to tie up loose ends

Interesting Time Travel Fantasy-first in a series?

My first exposure to author Williamson was this fun and even educational novel about a small troop of soldiers cope with being tossed back to the paleo years....the group of 8 male and 2 female soldiers bring an artificial amount of knowledge with them..the field medic happens to be in medical school, one of the women is a botanist and knows about plants that done exist in modern day, the captain is an engineer who can build, there is a soldier who is a linguist and can speak or learn to speak the locals language, as well as the language of several other transplanted warriors....... yada yada yada and on.

The concept is fun and it was presented well, with some occasional character development here and there. Many of the situations the modern day warriors find themselves read realistically and the way they work thru them is clever, however, I didn't get to know them well. And, of course, the 2 women are presented as cardboard characters fearing rape and, having few coping skills, cry. Theres quite a bit of sexual tension and the captain sets limits on co-habitation with natives, leaving the 2 female soldiers in more fear for their safety.

I felt the narration was the best part of this book. I've not heard Dennis Holland before and he did a good job bringing me into the paleo era with his excellent reading...he hasn't a lot of range with voices, but it didn't seem to be a problem to me while listening.

No more about the plot as I don't write spoilers but I will buy the next book in the series-in the end, this was a fun listen..almost a beach book type of listen-not absorbing but interesting.

Worth your credit if you're into time travel/military/survivalist or just fun stories.

Good nor bad

I liked the story but it was lacking in the fact that they were good people when they got lost, they went through the whole book and they were still good people when they got back. I felt like no character growth was achieved
