Acalan and Metztli Amos have been preparing for The Tournament of Heirs their entire lives. Ignoring their duty has never been an option. The Tournament of Heirs is a NA Fantasy Novel where a Deadly Tournament meets Aztec Mythology and of course, there's a sprinkle of romance too!

Holy frickin airball. 5 stars isn’t enough

This was such a good book. I finished it in one day and I am SO ready for book 2! These characters were amazing and the story was so fun to follow.

An explosion of la cultura.

This was my first immersive read and I couldn't have chosen a better experience. The music before each chapter really highlights the level of detail put into this production. I ate up the accents of the actors portraying these diverse characters, names are so important and the traditional native Latinx ones chosen are not always easy! The story itself was a beautiful exploration of familial obligations and expectations in regards to tradition. The sibling tie between Aclan and Metztli felt true and pure! I absolutely adored it. The world the author created is rich in culture, ranging from the mention of some of the foods as well as the descriptions of characters! The romance wasn't the main focus of this story, but I thought it could've used a little more polish as it was such a pivotal part of it in the end. I am really excited to see how this plays out in the sequel! ❤️‍🔥

Enjoyable Characters and Fantastic Story

Metztli is a strong character who takes on a lot of responsibility more than what is already put on her by her parents. She is stubborn, intelligent, emotional, and strong, but is willing to see errors in her own actions. She wants to see change occur for her people and is willing to do anything to ensure her brother's success so that it may occur. Sadly, she does view herself as expendable which is very much partly on hiw she was raised. Acalan's strength is showcased in his compassion towards his people and learning all he can in preparation to potentially be a king. Although he understands social dynamics more than his sister, he isn't a fighter like she is. He is hoping they succeed but hates the methods it will take to do so. Their sibling relationship is, in my mind, very realistic for their personalities and only brings about caring for them a great deal.

I enjoyed the voice acting. Instrumental music is used to indicate a change in chapter/part/perspective.

NOTE: The actors read their own viewpoints, they don't swap in when the other is speaking just do a change in pitch for their own voices.
