An introduction to a family who can travel through time in order to keep events going in the correct direction.
We meet the family, father and grandmother who can’t travel and the mother and daughter who can. The daughter just learns of her ability
We are also introduced to the hero, a vampire who meets and has a connection to the daughter
I was drawn into the story..I haven’t read/listened to the series, all complete..but anxiously await where the story takes and the mysteries to evolve

Interesting Concept - Interesting Characters

This was such a great idea for a story! I love the characters and their slight development in such a quick story leading up to the series. And I am thrilled to get to jump into more of the Ember-Rane romance!!! I will say that there were a couple parts that really irritated me where Ember just seemed very stupid for a woman in med school and there are times she seems a little helpless for what I like for my heroines, But overall I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to start the rest of the series!!

Sarah Puckett knocked it out of the park yet again in this book! I love her voice and inflections!! Aaron Shedlock was stellar too! It is always great to get a strong duo in an audiobook!!

Amazing! Didn't Want to Put it Down!

K love how this story launches into time travel and supernatural creatures (I won't tell you which since it's a spoiler!) but wow, action romance. PIRATES and time travel! I couldn't wait to start listening to book 1 after this!

The annoying heroine improves.

This short (3.75-hour) time travel/paranormal romance started out rough but has potential. The first half of the story was trite and predictable, with stale dialogue and a lack of geographic detail. In the first scene, the author ridiculously expects the readers to believe that a huge swordfight happened outside of a townhouse in a modern city, and none of the neighbors noticed! The heroine’s mother also seemed very flat as a character. The heroine Ember was annoying for 1.5 hours and then greatly improved and gained a really interesting love interest. You would expect a 28-year-old medical student to be calm in a stressful situation, but Ember was often hyperventilating in the first half. I’m glad that she stopped that annoying behavior. I plan to listen to the next 2 books in this series since the second half was unpredictable and very enjoyable.

I didn’t like a few aspects of Sarah Puckett’s narration. She narrated every chapter except the final one. Overall, her performance is rather lackluster. Her character voices are not always distinct from each other. She even has some weird mispronunciations, such as pronouncing the “i” and “e” in "hurriedly" as separate vowel sounds. She also does not pronounce the “b" in "nimbly". I played the audiobook on 1.2x speed so that the narrator’s semi-Valley-Girl accent was not noticeable. Aaron Shedlock did a 5-star job with his single chapter.

Prequel

This prequel to the time traveling Ember’s story shed some light on Rane and Ember’s meeting in the past. I really liked seeing this glimpse into the past, and seeing how their story began.

Great book!

Nice intro to the story and characters! I'm definitely looking forward to checking out the next in the series.
I enjoyed the narration by Sarah Puckett. She's a new to me narrator and did a wonderful job with all of the characters. The addition of Aaron Shedlock at the end was the icing on the cake!

Gimme more!

This prequel really gives you a taste for more. I haven't read the series first this time, but now I HAVE to. Between the time traveling medical student, Vikings and paranormals this action packed morsel HAS to lead to something good! 😍

perfect prequel

A prequel was definitely needed as now it all makes more sense. loved it. about the narration, unfortunately not much from Aaron as he reads only the epilogue, but he was brilliant as always. Sarah is also a brilliant reader, but i don't like her pronunciation of some words, example "ship" read as "shep", but that's forgivable considering she is a good reader. I received a free copy of this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Enthralling Adventure

This is an awesome start to the Magic Bound Saga by Anna Applegate we ho is s as new author to me. So much detailed information in this prequel to the series.

The narration was superb. We mainly hear Sarah Puckett in this prequel because this first instalment is an introduction to Ember finding out about time travel and mystical beings. Then at last we hear Aaron Shedlock as Rane Anderson. Both do amazing and I’m immediately going onto the next book.

So much to hear in this audiobook. There something for everyone who loves paranormal, magic or time travel. There some angst and thankfully this is only the prequel because yes it’s that good!

✨Fascinating start to this series ✨

Time Traveler’s Awakening is the prequel to the Magic Bound Saga and is a time travel paranormal romance. I’ve never read or listened to this author before, and I can’t wait for the book in this series! I really enjoyed the story line and even though this is a shorter listen, there are plot twists you won’t see coming!

Ember is a college student and still living at home. She comes home one day to have her whole world turned upside down. There are things she never knew about about her family, things that are now putting their lives at risk. She is determined to help and ends up meeting Rane. They have instant chemistry, but will she ever see him again? Dang, this girl hands some tough decisions to make.

The cliffhanger at the end has left me wanting SO MUCH MORE!! I need the next book stat!!

Sarah and Aaron did a fabulous job narrating this story! They truly brought these characters to life!

What a good start to the series

Ok so this is the story of Ember who sees her life upside down when she discovers that there is this Joseph MacGregor who wants to end her family and is adamant on kidnapping her.... and that she can time travel!! I loved this prequel so much I am already nagging the author to know more about all the characters *sorry for that Anna*
Seriously, I just love it when a story flows seamlessly and makes you want to know more about all the characters.
I loved Rane and Ember and I am definitely eager to see what happens to them next.
I am also so curious as to Patrick, Jac and Finn and don’t even get me started on grandma Florence with her seemingly detached attitude. I bet she has some stories to tell.
Also what I liked a lot is the twist on the sexy highlander. Don’t get me wrong I love sexy highlander heroes but it was refreshing to get a sexy highlander baddie as well.
So now, I am off to listening to book 1 because I just can’t wait to know what happens next..
