Publisher's summary

Richard and Vanessa haven’t had an easy marriage by any means. Just like every couple, they have struggled through love, life, death, and addiction.

A small, quiet town where there are no strangers, except for the new doctor, Wayne Halsey. Everyone knew he was charming, but no one knew what he was capable of. What will happen when the secrets come out between Doctor Halsey and what he had done to Vanessa? When these secrets are revealed, how much will Richard be willing to risk?

Twenty-three-year-old Elizabeth was very alluring, and searching for someone to settle down with. She had her sights set on Richard and wasn’t taking “no” for an answer.

Richard stood in the shower, reminiscing about his life. What had he done? It would only be a matter of time before the cops showed up. He had already been warned, but this was his wife.

Had he just cost them everything? Would he jeopardize his 12 years of sobriety, or worse…his marriage?

So emotional

I love this story. It had all the trials a marriage could go through (and then some). The joys of a family, the terror of life and one great big love. This book kept my interest the whole time. And I’m not from the south but I believe the narrator did a great job..

Enjoyable story, Enjoyable narration

I read the only review of this audio book before diving in. It mentioned the story was good but the narration included a "fake southern accent." I wasn't sure what to expect as I began listening. The story was very enjoyable. However, I disagree with the review about the narration. This story is based in the Appalachian area of the South. That area has a specific dialect, different from other areas of the Southern US. The narration is on point for that dialect. I enjoyed the story and the narration. Give it a listen!

Enjoyable and good narration

I enjoyed this book and how it depicts the real struggles of married life. However, I’d have to agree with the southern accent, not really up to par. But the book/story line was good.

Nice Story, not spectacular, Fake Southern Accent

First thing I think of when writing this review is the accent! Sorry. I'm from the south and a southern accent is very pleasant, but a fake accent is like chalk scratching on a chalkboard. This is from the start to the end.
The story is believable but not much different from any family working through some rough edges.

An east and enjoyable listen.

Both the writing and narration are enjoyable. The story is an excellent depiction of family struggles with the accent superbly representing Appalachia. I have traveled and lived all over the South and know their is diversity dialects. The accent adds to the story not detracts from it. I am glad I gave this book a listen.
