Swept off course by a raging storm, a Swiss pastor, his wife, and their four young sons are shipwrecked on an uncharted tropical island. Thus begins the classic story of survival and adventure that has fired the imaginations of readers since it first appeared in 1812. With optimism and boundless enthusiasm, the Robinson family undertakes the extraordinary task of constructing a home for themselves and exploring the primitive island filled with strange and beautiful creatures and exotic fruits and plants.

Rich in action and suspense, this exhilarating novel takes us to a faraway place of danger and beauty, where the courageous Robinson family embarks on a thrilling new life of adventure and discovery.

The reader has a pleasant voice for narration, but seems to have exactly three character voices at his command--man, woman, and whiny child. It's a little disconcerting to hear Fritz, described as being nineteen and having a man's voice, talking in the same voice as his ten-year-old brother. Not a great performance all in all.

While I know the author died before he could complete this book, and that the family approved this ending, I much prefer the original ending to this deus-ex-machina ending with all the "savages" and running around in boats. It definitely feels tacked on and anticlimactic after the adventures that came before--more Robinson Crusoe (read: boring) than Swiss Family Robinson.

Inflexible Narrator, Different Ending

I struggled to pay attention, the narrator was too monotone for my liking and because of that I kept losing focus

interesting

The story is timeless and the performance is excellent, the old English is quite charming, hated to have it end.

Great Classic very well done

We all know the story so I'm not commenting on that.

The narrator was excellent. Soothing but not monotone. Placed emphasis where it should be without getting louder and softer. Definitely looking for more audiobooks read by him.

Loved the narrator
