Publisher's Summary

It was the perfect summer job—until it turned into her worst nightmare.

Bridgett is enjoying an idyllic summer as the nanny for Leo, the son of Paul and Emily Cooper—a famous actor and renowned charity founder. Not only is she generously compensated to care for Leo at the couple’s Seattle waterfront estate, she develops a special bond with the little boy. In addition to the financial perks of the job, Bridgett has fallen into a summer love affair with Chris, a landscaper who works at the property.

It’s the Fourth of July. Leo’s parents are holding a major event for their charity at the top of the Space Needle. When a masked intruder breaks into the home and takes Leo hostage, Bridgett will do anything to save the boy’s life. She complies with the burglar’s demands to retrieve a multi-million-dollar heirloom necklace from the home, yet she quickly discovers that he hasn’t come for the necklace at all…

Detectives Blake Stephenson and Tess Richards are celebrating the Fourth at the Cooper’s charity gala where Tess is being honored for her volunteer work. However, their evening is dampened when Tess’s younger brother, Chris, fails to show up for the event. As they leave the event early, hoping to find answers, they learn the security system is down at the Cooper’s mansion…and that Chris isn’t the only one missing from the party.

Fast paced thriller with a twist

Bridgett, a nanny to wealthy family's son, gets caught up in a suspenseful situation as the boy she is looking after gets taken hostage in order for her to retrieve a treasure from the house he lives in.

The story developed quickly and well. It was realistic and intriguing and i was excited to hear it till the end. It had a very interesting twist, i quite liked it!

The narrator had an excellent tone in her voice perfect for the suspenseful and tension building theme.

I highly recommend this book, it is thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable!

Not a thriller, but more of a juvenile romance.

I like Audrey Cole's thrillers, but this one seems like it was written by someone else. It's a teen romance at best.

Great Addition to the Series!

This is the third book in the Emerald City series. This short novella is well written, and suspenseful. The storyline is captivating, filled with unpredictable twists and turns. Veronica Pace did a fantastic job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to Viable Hostage, the next book in the series.

I love it but the ending is lacking

I totally loved this story from the plot to the narrator, it is full of thrills, danger, excitement and the author does keep you guessing for a few minutes. It is full of twists and turns that you do not see coming. I wish the ending went long filling in the ending. The author does leave a lot of question unanswered, such as what happens to the characters, with this ending the father has a lot to answer for, what happened to the killer, how does all this effect the baby and father.

I thought the narrator did a wonderful just really bring the thrill and excitement to the listener. There are no background noise, no repeating of words, no volume changes, just a truly delightful clean clear listen, She gives true emotion, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. I really enjoyed her character voices, she really held my attention giving me an audio that I didn't want to end. I was hooked from the first page until the end.

Too short

This is a short novella (under 2 hours) -- too short to offer much character development. In fact, it ended rather abruptly, making the story feel unfinished. It is suspenseful, though, and well performed by Veronica Pace.

The Summer Nanny

This a fast paced fun short story. The narration is nice and easy to listen to. I did feel a bit lost at times since this was my first book in the series An Emerald City. I also felt that a bit more back story could have been added. Overall great plot and defiantly worth a listen.

Great audiobook

I thought this was a good layout with the story at a really well thought out pace . I immediately was thrown into the head of Bridgett and the warmth I felt towards her . As the story took hold I was captivated and couldn’t stop listening, the sequence of events leading up to the final throw down was edge of the seat and I loved the plot twist . The story was well thought out and the narrator was brilliant!! I absolutely loved this book from start to finish and could’ve listened to more and more . I recommend this little gem of a book to anyone . It was like a movie in my mind and I pictured every scene as though I was watching it with the lights low . More like this please !

Suspenseful Tale and Emotional Performance

I had no idea what to expect because I hadn't read the preview excerpt before listening (I was given a free promo code). But I thought that the writing was well done, and the narrator impressed me with her range of emotion and pacing, plus she has a very nice voice. The wrap up at the end may have felt a bit rushed, considering that the whole book took place in one night, but that's what you get with a short novella like this I guess! It might have just been the fact that I knew it was coming to an end too soon, and I'd have loved to keep listening for a few more hours.

Wow, just wow

Wow, I just loved this book. It was full of suspense and really kept me hooked until the end. I just wish it could have been longer. I have listened to the other stories in this series and they weren't in order so it was nice to find out what happened to Tess's brother. It didn't effect the story not being in the right order and won't make any difference if you haven't heard the rest but I ask you why wouldn't you? All the book are excellent and it is definitely a must listen to series. The characters are like able but it is the plot and suspense that make it so enjoyable as you never know what is going to happen next. It also has plenty of mystery and action.
Bridgette has the ideal summer job working for the perfect couple and there adorable son. That is until the baby monitor clicks on revieling someone in a mask standing over the cot with a knife. Not complying could cost the baby his life but complying could cost Bridgette hers. It is a race to out think a dangerous foe all by herself but is burglary the only thing on the intruders mind?
I really like the narrator she does a good job with the voices, even the little boy and the added effects adds to the tension building up. All in all a great book and an excellent series. I hope there is more to come.
