Eighteen months after Natalie Gray loses her husband, Bernie, in a horrific hit-and-run accident, she finds love with his best friend, Ed Cooper, and moves into his home with her teenage daughter, Scarlett. But she begins to suspect Ed has a dark side - and even darker intentions. Natalie must get her troubled child to a safer place, but when Scarlett starts to hear voices coming from the empty apartment next door it seems she has unwittingly moved them into the heart of danger.

DCI Tom Douglas is also chasing the truth. As his investigation into the suicide of a teenage girl draws him ever closer to Natalie and Scarlett, will he be too late to protect them from the threat they face or from the truths that will tear their lives apart?

The Sixth Window by Rachel Abbott took a few chapters for me to get into. However, once we got into the meat of this audiobook it wasn’t read to me quickly enough! Abbott’s dark and complex storylines completely pull me in and do not let me go until the last word. Just like the last book in this series, it feels as if there’s two parallel storylines going on and you know, you just can feel it, that these storylines are going to eventually ram right into each other. They do… just when Miss Abbott gets to some major climax area they collide and the listener is left scratching their heads and scrambling around a bit to put all the pieces together.

The narrator, Rachel Atkins, was fantastic. There were several characters in The Sixth Window and the one narrator did an incredibly thorough job portraying each character with a personal feel to each of them. Atkins’ voice and tone are strong and very pleasant to listen to. She still had an enjoyable British accent but it isn’t as strong as most are. I really love British accents in all levels.

Wait for it... the story gets complex and great!

Very interesting plot. Some parts definitely on the edge of your seat. The plot twists and turns, you think you know where it is going and then Abbott surprises you. A nice, entertaining suspense. Very enjoyable.

Kept me guessing from start to finish. So many twists and turns , one minute I'm sure I know the bad guys and the next I'm doubting myself. Thoroughly enjoyable read and loved the narration too.
