Dangerously addictive, The Secrets of Us is a pulse-pounding exploration of a disturbed psyche and the bond between two sisters desperate to escape a troubled past.

Foster sisters Krystal and Nichole have always been there for each other, so when Nichole is committed to a psychiatric hospital after trying to kill her husband, Krystal drops everything to defend her.

Scarred by a hard upbringing, Nichole and Krystal managed to construct comfortable lives for themselves. Krystal became a respected lawyer, and Nichole was happily married to an architect - until Nichole starts raving that her husband isn’t her husband, believing that he’s an imposter.

Driven by fierce loyalty, Krystal starts asking questions, but she’s not sure she can bear the answers. Her investigation leads to the sisters’ dark shared past...to a horrible tragedy and a well-guarded lie that cemented their sisterly bond.

But that lie can’t kill the truth - the battered, gasping, clawing truth that’s coming for them both. Now Krystal and Nichole must both fight for the lives they’ve built before they’re consumed by the one they left behind.

Why does the publisher or whomever chooses narrator cut costs by having a female do a male voice? Ruins a good story. The difference between being willing to use a credit or not. Thank goodness this one was a sale one.

Can't stand this narrator doing a man's voice.

I loved this story, but the narrator/performer was awful. It sounds like she was screeching for the majority of it. I understand it's a thriller, but there's other techniques for conveying that without screeching. Her attempts at different tones and accents for different characters was also laughable, especially for the men. Unfortunately, the narration/performance here ruined the audiobook. If you're interested in this book, I highly suggest reading it instead of listening.

great story, awful narrator

It’s a great read but more anticlimactic than alot of Lucinda berry’s stories.however it is still a great story just not as psychologically thrilling as some of her other writing . Great story either way

This was a fun and quick read. I enjoyed the characters and the story line.

Great Read

The robotic voice of the narrator reminded me of the cheaply made Godzilla movies of old. It was brutal listening to her, but I continued because the story was kind of interesting. Glad to be done with this book.

A little slow at times but overall good with some nice twists. Good narration except for Nichole's screechy parts.

Good read

It was not the best but not the worst. It was just ok. The characters were kinda annoying and sometimes I felt like fast forwarding because of the whining. Narrator was great! Easy listen though!

Just ok

This book was wonderfully narrated but WOW there wasn’t one satisfying moment - the whole story was focused on miserable people doing horrible things. I kept reading, waiting for the protagonists to find justice but every character was complicit in their own demise.

Not easy to finish

I listen to Audiobooks every night to help with my insomnia. So, finding an extremely exciting book is not typically my goal, although I do love when I come across them. This book was one of them. It kept me listening during the day, and I finished it in about a day. I had to listen to it even after I woke up because I became that invested. It deals with real life situations like foster care, the system, and most of all, mental health. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a good Domestic Thriller.

Engaged me from the start

As I was listening to the story I decided to look at the reviews in more depth. I was surprised to see that many of them were pretty low. I have to disagree with them on the ending. The ending is not traditional but does wrap up the story. I do agree with the comments about the female narrators performing the male roles. I have experienced this a couple times and when there is a large amount involving the female and male characters it can be a little confusing. It was a really good read and I would absolutely recommend so fans of the psychological thrillers.

Don’t take the reviews too seriously
