This is a family story, better than a " book." I am so glad the author chose to read it himself. Hearing his experiences, gave them more life, and meaning. I found myself rooted in this story, listening with a grateful heart. I wish there was more content out there like this. A guidebook for homesteading and family.

Justin Rhodes nails everything homesteading right on the head. Consider this a must have guidebook if you're even considering a homestead. Already have a homestead? This book is for you too. It discusses practical design elements and efficiency in all the basics. A nice relief is that this book doesn't feel like work to read. Justin offers many personal stories and lessons throughout the book so you feel like you're just sitting and having a chat with "Uncle Justin". He also discusses the rooted life with family. A great guide to those who have children along on the journey or a spouse and struggle to keep focused on what's important- your family. Five stars all around and highly recommend.

Loved this inspiring book. very pleased that Justin did the narration for it as well it adds and even more personal touch to this book. Inspired to build my own homestead and start our own more rooted life. Beautifully put together.

This one is better if you're looking to get started. not so much if you are looking take what you already have to another level.

As a wife to my BFF and mother of 7 with the BIG DREAM of having a closed circle farmstead. Justin, you have been a huge part to making this dream unfold. listening to books was a great word of advice from you. So I started this one last week while milking the cows. I had to pause, think, and just take it in. JUSTIN you have done amazing, I am not finished but have been enjoying this all qeek. Thanks for teaching with kindness and spreading the JOY of homesteading and real life. The raw and unfiltered teaching is what makes learning from you and your family so much fun.

BONUS the pronunciation and autio is AMAZING and easily understood over the sound of the cows and geese.

Short and Sweet

Entry level book for the wannabe farmer. Justin does a great job breaking down complex concepts into layman terms. The production quality is very high. Good audio with no blerps that I can remember. Highly recommend.

Read it, don’t listen to it.

This book isn’t the farming memoir I thought it would be and is instead a how-to guide and it’s wonderful, but I suggest reading it rather than listening to it as it is a lot to take in.

Very helpful perspectives

really enjoyed the book would highly recommend for anyone considering a change of lifestyle. initially didn't read the book because I didn't think that Justin had a sustainable model without an outside source of income. HoweverI no believe that whether you homestead for fun or farm for a living this book does have valuable perspectives
