Publisher's summary

Jack Dalton was charismatic.

Johnny Outlaw was irresistible.

Two sides of the same man, passionate about two things - music and Holliday Hughes. With her intoxicating mix of strength and vulnerability, confidence and sex appeal, he couldn't get enough of her.

Together, love was a storm of chaos and calm. When fame became a force to be reckoned with, could their love hold them together or would their notoriety tear them apart?

MISTRUST, HEARTBREAK & LIES.... & LOVE'S REDEMPTION

From the Prologue of this you know something has gone terribly wrong in Jack and Holiday's marriage and the rest of the Chapters capture exactly what went wrong that caused the grief, the mistrust and the heartache. Then the all-consuming plot slides the Prologue neatly into place for the rest of their heartbreak, scandals, fears and bitter tears. Until finally there's joy, laughter, celebrations and happy tears as a HEA comes into view.

This was a hauntingly beautiful bitter-sweet love story that'll take you on great highs and then plummet you to terrible lows as you experience, along with Jack and Holiday, the series of shocking events that can happen whilst trying to hold on to, and trust, the person you love more than yourself. Because being universally loved, famous and in the spotlight eventually has a terrible impact.... on their emotional stability, their peace of mind and their hearts.

Worth a credit? I was forever wiping away the drool caused by the sexy and charismatic Rocker Jack Dalton (aka Johnny Outlaw) and the story was one emotional roller coaster as it threw in the toxic twists and savage turns. Told from both POV's, the narration was great, the whole ride was unstoppable and that 'feel good' feeling afterwards was like being hugged..... so YES worth the credit.

3.5 stars!

Where does The Reckoning rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Performance wise this is an excellent audiobook. I just couldn't get into the angst of the story and felt detached and impatient for it to end. I liked The Resistance (Hard to Resist, #1) a lot, and I think I may enjoy this author's other non-rock star romance novels that I’ve already collected.

Has The Reckoning turned you off from other books in this genre?

I would say that I have to be more careful reading rock star romance trope novels because they don't really appeal to me much. The novel has to be centered around something other than ongoing trust issues for me to enjoy it since I feel distrust in a celebrity relationship is expected and unavoidable.

Have you listened to any of Alexandria Watts and Sebastian York ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I actually really enjoyed The Resistance by S. L. Scott, narrated by Alexandria Watts. I think that may have been the first time I heard Alexandria narrate a novel in fact. I've listened to Sebastian York narrate many romance novels and enjoyed his performance here although Johnny Outlaw's POV chapters were a smaller percentage of the novel. I think both narrators did an excellent job. This just wasn't the story for me overall.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That was my problem. I couldn't reconnect emotionally to these two characters. I think not being a rock star romance trope fan was the big issue. The writing itself was fine, but it wasn't the right plot for me to read.

Any additional comments?

This sequel tackled how now married couple Holliday Hughes and Johnny Outlaw had to work out their trust issues while both of their careers put stress on their relationship. I loved the chapter titles. They alternated between Johnny's and Holliday's observations. I also really like the stylish cover. Fans of the rock star romance trope, angst and sequels in general will probably really enjoy this one.

Not sure if I will finish this one...

I really want to like this book. I went back and listened to the first one again before I started this one. The problem that I'm having is that Holiday seems to have had a personality transplant. She is all over the place with her emotions. Also, she makes bad decision after bad decision. Some parts of the story are just not belivable. Holiday had a backbone in the first book. So far I haven't seen one in this book. I'm really not sure that I want to continue. Very disapointed.

What was I thinking

I will just say , I should've left it alone.. Book 2 is really bad..I cannot STOMACH the heroin she is sooo perfect..the story just drags. .unnecessary drama... all this drama could've been handled in book 1 because nothing really happens. .I would not recommend this audiobook. .or book 2..book 1 ends just fine.. keep it moving. .don't waste your money trust me..don't do it

A little disappointed

This book was as well written as the first, but Jack and Holliday were WAY to slow to learn their relationship lessons. I fast forwarded through much of the second half just because I couldn't endure another ridiculous trust/communication issue. Again, the narration was superb.

😑

Really enjoyed the first book... second book I find Holliday so annoying. So sick of her putting her business above everything while expecting him to change his. She makes the same mistakes as Dalton while playing victim and making drama the entire book.

Way way waaaaay too much angst!

I hate leaving bad reviews, but 90% of this book felt so unnecessary. The strong power couple at the end of The Resistance is completely absent from this book. Holiday is weak and both she and Dalton take for-Ev-er to learn the lesson of trusting each other and not the tabloids. I found myself so annoyed and rolling my eyes for much of this book. I stuck with it because I want to finish the series, but damn…it was painful. The only redeeming factor was the fantastic narration.

Mixed Feelings

I have been into this series hook line and sinker and love S.L. Scott. I am having a really hard time though with Holiday in this one. She is so not innocent and brought so many of the problems on herself. I don’t like how she was portrayed as the poor pathetic victim. I will finish the series as I can’t stop now that I’ve started.

OMG!!

the 1st book gave me a sassy heroine who could handle a damaged famous hero. and I loved it. BUT this book turns into the most frustrating novel I've ever listened to and I nearly didn't finish it. the heroine ,in my opinion is portrayed as a sap and no longer feisty or smart, especially with the sebastians and Ashleys of the world.
the heroine knows how broken the hero is why groan on the way this book did.?
and the best friend.....shit I'd take my enemy over her grrrrrr!
I kept listening because I wanted it to get better like her first book...and it did....a little. and if it wasn't for Sebastian Yorks voice I may have returned it. his narration saved the book.
