What a spectacular listen! Emmy Coates does a fantastic job of bringing the characters in this epic story to life. This universe is such a fun and well-thought out place to visit and get wrapped up in, often times I’d lose track of time as I listened and read along.

The idea of each novella being based on a tarot card is so creative and even more fun after listening to the authors video diaries and blogs about it. So much thought and care went into making this a deep and enthralling story that flowed from beginning to end with some twists and turns along the way.

Definitely gets my stamp of approval along with the other Ravenglass universe stories!

"The Ravenglass Chronicles: Complete Omnibus" is an epic, 11-chapter book that takes readers on a journey through a medieval setting, with each chapter influenced by a Tarot card. The book is a unique and creative setup that adds an interesting dimension to the story.

At 41 hours in length, the audio version of the book is a significant commitment, but it is well worth the time investment. The author, Jon Cronshaw, has created a captivating and entertaining read with a strong female character at its core.

The book is well-paced, with some chapters being shorter than others, and readers are advised not to rush through it. The world-building is impressive, and the characters are well-developed, making it easy for readers to get lost in the story.

Overall, "The Ravenglass Chronicles: Complete Omnibus" is a creative and enjoyable read that will keep readers engaged from start to finish. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and immersive reading experience.

The Ravenglass Chronicles audiobook version is 40 hours of pure listening enjoyment. Having read each of the twenty separate installments as they were released, I was intimately familiar with the story, however listening to the entire series not only brought new things to light for me, but it also allowed me to revisit a fantasy world that had rekindled my interest in the fantasy genre. The audiobook version also includes the prequel to the twenty original stories which set the stage for the series. Emma Coates does a fantastic job bringing each character to life and verbally weaving a visual tapestry from the story.

Excellent fantasy tale

Performance was great, enjoyed the development of the characters. Though thought a few more of the characters would have made it through to the end, but alas not.

Good Story

Well, the world building doesn't suck. I liked the artifacts and magic in the story. there were some surprises that the author worked into the piece well.
There were a lot of unimaginative cliches and a man writing about a girl becoming a woman just seems weird and fake. Still, it is a complete coherent story, written, edited, and performed acceptably
So, you see me oscillating between liking the ideas and cringing at many parts of the story. I'm a big fan of the fantasy genre. I suppose I wasn't the target audience. I liked that the author didn't shy away from dark topics like evil puppet masters and assassinations, death, and murder. There was almost a philosophical discussion on how the different kinds of murder are perceived by society.
I didn't like the direction the author chose to take the main character in...they seem to want to make her a real person with flaws and complexity but then they chicken out and go for purity and innocence every time despite the whole situation being anything but. Yes, I'm being vague to avoid spoilers.
The author seems to commit to a kind of early steampunk magical Britain but then layers on top modern belief systems that wouldn't have developed in that kind of time period.
I liked the challenge to slavery and the challenges to religions.
I liked the acknowledgement of torture but without actual discussing detailed acts of torture.
I don't know, It's a mixed bag and thus my rating. The Author writes better than Ed Greenwood whose Forgotten Realms world building is fantastic. I feel maybe the problem is fleshing out the outline.
Lastly, the author begs for five stars in his epilogue. I paid for the book, I read the book. It isn't a five star book for me.

This was my first experience with Jon Cronshaw's work, and I was entertained. The series of novellas related Kat's life. The worldbuilding was involved as it described the cultures of both the wealthy and those less fortunate. I liked the inclusion of wyverns and magic. I appreciated Kat's development and growth during each successive novella. I will be looking for more work by this author. Emmy Coates' narration was good, and she kept my attention with her performance. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Arresting Coming-of-Age Fantasy

I really enjoyed this story! Kat's journey and struggles were fun to follow. The editing made it a little hard to get through with the audio and some lines and even a whole chapter being repeated. Overall it's a good listen and will probably be listening to it again.

great story! not so great editing.
