Deputy DA Audrey Spencer is assigned to handle the murder case of Chad Ventura, a prominent criminal defense attorney who was found brutally slaughtered in a bowling alley. He was obviously tortured before he died. Shortly after Audrey’s arrival at the crime scene, Chad’s wife, Mellicent Ventura, forces her way inside while dragging her young daughter behind her.

Something seems off about Mellicent, and she immediately becomes suspect number one. Not only does she seem indifferent to her husband’s vicious execution, but it also appears she invaded the crime scene, hoping to accomplish something. What that is? Audrey has no idea.

Chad Ventura’s friend is murdered next while Audrey is on hand, and she is powerless to stop it from happening. Frustrated, Audrey once again works closely with detectives Barry Michaels and Mary Ramirez as she tries to figure out the connection between the two murders and whether Mellicent is involved. Can she catch the killer before they kill again? Can she figure out why these two men, who’ve been friends from high school, have been murdered mere weeks apart?
