About this listen

After years of war, Army Ranger Quinn Colson returns home to the rugged, rough hill country of Northeast Mississippi to find his native Tibbehah County overrun with corruption, decay, meth runners, and violence. His uncle, the longtime county sheriff, is dead. A suicide, he’s told, but others - like tomboy Deputy Lillie Virgil - whisper murder.

In the days that follow, it’s up to Colson to discover the truth, not only about his uncle, but about his family, his friends, his town, and himself. And once it’s discovered, there’s no going back for this real hero of the Deep South.

I thought the story was decent, but also the military character coming back to his hometown to help seek justice has been overly done.

A damn fine start to this series. Narrator was first rate and the writing had just the right blend of crisply plotted storyline and enough iterary description to paint a fine Southern tale.

Excellent listen

This was a good first book and a great introduction to Quinn Colson however, sometimes the editing seemed a little jarring, moving from one place to another without any explanation, but we will see how it goes in the next installment.

Great start to a new series

McLeod Andrew’s does an amazing job with this story. The story could use a bit more depth but the characters are well drawn leaving the reader wanting more.

Predictable but a good start to a series?

This story gave me insight into a certain population makeup in the Mississippi region, near Biloxi. It was entertaining & beautifully told. I found this story flowed well, the characters interesting & the descriptions just superb.

Fascinating
