Publisher's Summary

The new novel from the best-selling author of the This Man trilogy and One Night trilogy!

People think they have Camille Logan nailed: daddy's girl, a beautiful, spoiled young woman with her father's bank balance to fund her lifestyle. But Camille is determined to have a life free from his strings. Out on her own, she's made mistakes, including one that found her clawing her way back after a stint in rehab and plenty of bad press. Now, after fighting so hard to be independent and happy, she finds her life threatened as a result of her father's ruthless business dealings. Caught between resentment and fear, Camille prepares herself for the measures her father will take to protect her. But nothing could prepare her for the ex-SAS sniper who crashes into her life.

Jake Sharp resides in his own personal hell. He was distracted from duty once before, and the consequences were devastating - both personally and professionally. He vowed never to let that happen again. Accepting the job of bodyguard to Camille Logan isn't the kind of distraction from his demons he should take. Women and Jake don't mix well, yet protecting the heiress seems the lesser of two evils. But Jake soon discovers that she isn't the woman she's perceived to be. She's warm, compassionate, her presence settling, and his duty to protect her soon goes deeper than a well-paid job, no matter how hard he fights it. He needs absolution. He comes to need Camille. But he knows he can't have both.

Maybe it needed Edita....

Not near as good as This Man and One Night series, whether it was the different narrators or not, the story lacked the originality and passion that her other books had. I was very disappointed.

Same Ol' love story

I struggled to finish it. The female narrator's voice was way too old sounding for the character's supposed age. The same old damsel in distress story is so obvious and totally overused. The introspection was over the top dramatic. There was no ordinary conversation between the lovers, just conversation about their love/lust for each other. It was absurd to think that they had anything other than a physical and lustful connection. Bullocks!

Simply Perfect

This was a joy from the first word to the last. Great story, realistic angst, strong characters, and superb narration. There was action and sizzle, a great love story and even some laughs. This is one I'll listen to again. Thanks Jodi.

Not what I expected

I absolutely fell in love with Jesse Ward, This man trilogy was more than I could imagine. the writing was extraordinary. then she wrote the "one night" trilogy and I couldn't have imagined it being better, it blew my socks off. Miller Hart was by far the best character I have ever read about. that being said, the protector fell short of my extremely high expectations. Jodis writing style is one of a kind, one of a magnificent kind. The Protector was good, but not her best.

The story had so many possibilities, but fell flat

I think it would be hard for Malpas to top"This Man" series, it was original and very well written. This story had such potential, I don't know if she got tired or if the editing ruined her story line. Either way this story started out with such potential ... had some very hot love scenes... and then when it should have climaxed with the heroines rescue ... it flat lined. I think it was a well written story, but the build up was lacking. Overall it is a good story... the narration was okay ... the characters were developed .... overall this story was just okay for me. This does not mean I will not rush out to buy the next one. I will. I just want her to write to her full potential! It is worthy of a listen just don't expect a masterpiece!

I really wanted to like this one

Not a bad story but after reading her previous work I felt disappointed with this one.

Dissapointed...

Would you try another book from Jodi Ellen Malpas and/or Alexandra Baldwin and Owen MacMahon ?

Not if Owen MacMahon is the narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

Still listening, but am so unhappy with the male narration I had to write a review.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alexandra Baldwin and Owen MacMahon ?

Alexandra Baldwin has done a wonderful job so far. I am so dissapointed in the male narrator, Owen MacMahon. I would love to hear the British version of Sebastian York as Jake, or Edita Brychta would work. She did a splendid job with the This Man series.

Any additional comments?

I haven't finished listening to the book yet and am not sure if I can. I love Jodi Ellen Malpass but would give a pass on this book on Audible because of the male narrator. His voice just doesn't match the description of the sexy bodyguard.

Oh the feels!

This book! Originally I had read this book because it is going to be Passionflix’s newest film. It is my first read from Jodie Ellen Malpas. It won’t be my last.

This book is filled with characters that are intriguing. Jake Sharp is a broken man who is hired to protect the London socialite, Camille Logan. A job he isn’t too keen on. Little did he know that this job would be his salvation to bring him out his darkness and into the light.

This book is filled with excitement, angst and so many feels. The way that Jake sees and feels about Cami is swoon worthy. Equally so with the way Cami views Jake. Their admiration, love, respect and belief in one another got me all mushy inside and brought out the feels to the very last page turn.

This is a must read!

Well written, believable dialogue, and emotional!

This book was a surprise! Well narrated, matter of fact beautifully narrated. And, well written! When Passionflix announced it this was their next book to be filmed this summer, I downloaded it to get ready to see what the hubbub was about. The buzz is well deserved. What a fantastic book. It's rare when I have such a book hangover that I am in my head with characters and events and the narrator's voices for a while after a book ends on audio, as I can typically move to another book fast, but this one, not so easy to move on.
Download and listen. You won't regret it.
