Publisher's Summary

The New York Times best-seller.

"There is so much to relate to and throughout the novel, there is a sharp feminist edge. Loved this one, and you will too." (New York Times best-selling author Roxane Gay)

The author of The Wedding Date serves up a novel about what happens when a public proposal doesn't turn into a happy ending, thanks to a woman who knows exactly how to make one on her own....

When someone asks you to spend your life with him, it shouldn't come as a surprise - or happen in front of 45,000 people.

When freelance writer Nikole Paterson goes to a Dodgers game with her actor boyfriend, his man bun, and his bros, the last thing she expects is a scoreboard proposal. Saying no isn't the hard part - they've only been dating for five months, and he can't even spell her name correctly. The hard part is having to face a stadium full of disappointed fans....

At the game with his sister, Carlos Ibarra comes to Nik's rescue and rushes her away from a camera crew. He's even there for her when the video goes viral and Nik's social media blows up - in a bad way. Nik knows that in the wilds of LA, a handsome doctor like Carlos can't be looking for anything serious, so she embarks on an epic rebound with him, filled with food, fun, and fantastic sex. But when their glorified hookups start breaking the rules, one of them has to be smart enough to put on the brakes....

Loved it

When I read The Wedding Date last year I knew I had to read more by Jasmine Guillory. The Proposal did not disappoint. It was amazing. The characters are witty, the dialogue well sritten and the whole story is amazingly funny. This is a perfect rom-com and would make a great movie.
If you can't resist romance that will make you smile this is the book for you>

Wedding Part II

I was excited to see what Jasmine Guillory had in store after reading the wedding guest but it felt too familiar. I felt like was listening to the same book again. The characters had the same insecurities. I wanted to scream at them "just communicate." The only reason I didn't return this book is because the ending was okay.

I think if you haven't read the wedding guest you will enjoy this one but if you have then this one is just a repeat

A fabulous and timely follow-up

I love a consistent narrator in a series. This book is so fun and funny and Nik is incredibly sympathetic.

the game of love . . .

Ever wondered about the backstory of all those jumbotron proposals, when the couple shares their experience with 45,000 of their closest strangers? The Proposal is a fun look at what happens when those 15 minutes of fame and social media explode into relationship disaster. H and h are well developed characters struggling to balance life, work, family and relationship expectations. Secondary characters add spice to story, too. The second in a series/stand alone story. Guillory is a competent author and its a pretty quick read and looking forward to the next story, Narration by Edwards, okay as well.

Hit em!

I may be in the minority, but I enjoyed this one far more than the first book. I loved that it featured a sexy brown man with a dark skinned black woman.

It addressed things black women experience, like misogynoir and mob culture on social media( events in the book were a very public event and made it hard for her to hide on social networks) as well as the awareness people of color have when they’re in non-brown and non-black spaces, something I’ve been wishing for a romance to address with characters of color.

This book stepped up the sexy, even though a majority of loving was still closed door, the author made me feel the sexy with their AMAZING banter. I should say though, some stuff is vague but not as closed door as the first which made me love it way more.

And it was a light and warm rom com about circumstances bringing two cute individuals together and making them fwb who weren’t initially looking for love.

I liked that they were genuinely friends doing the nasty. A lot of fwb books feel like they’re intensely in love while they’re constantly asserting they’re just friends. They felt like real buds, and in time it turned into more because the pressure wasn’t on.

I could say more but this was a near perfect book, I’m upset it took me so long to read this after pre ordering it!

Good depiction of the struggle of an independent

Love the complexities in the relationship between the three women from different backgrounds and the unconditional love and support they show one another. It is possible for women from different ethnic background and cultures to be good friends. the budding friendship the transferred to a loving relationship was well written and sweet. I loved the book, would have liked the book to end with more development of their relationship. What happened after they reconnected?

Excellent narrator of a well crafted story

This was a great story of a believable, modern and down to earth romance. The narrator was well matched to this author's work.
