Cant Catch a Break

Sooo, I love the concept of this book, but this poor girl can’t catch a break. She is so powerless and very different than most main characters in a kind of pathetic way. Where most characters have spunk and courage, she whimpers and whines and always says how powerless she is. I’m almost convinced that this is a parody of your run of the mill YA dystopian novel... or maybe that’s just the excuse that I want to give this book. It’s also interesting to have such a clueless love interest. The prince is very ignorant and his character development shallow. The book is made up of variations of the same theme. A powerless heroine, clueless prince, overdone evil queen, and a Effie Trinket wanna be on repeat through countless murder attempts, slanderous reports, and cheesy romance. Great for a laugh.

Main character can be annouying towards the climax

I enjoyed this book. My only complaint was how annoying the main character was in all the whining towards the end of the book. It's like she learns one lesson but then sinks back into self pity and disparity. The next book should be interesting.
