Publisher's summary

She signed the papers. Now she must pay the price….

Then:

I gaze at my new husband and smile. It’s our wedding day and I feel like the luckiest woman alive.

Lucas is perfect. He brings me coffee in the morning, flowers in the evening, and never leaves the room without a kiss.

So I try to ignore the niggling doubt in the back of my mind about the prenup he made me sign. Does he think I’m a gold digger?

I reassure myself that it doesn’t matter, because I know we’ll be together forever….

Now:

Three years in, Lucas has changed. I don’t feel safe in my own house, and when I look at my husband, I don’t recognize the man I married.

But I signed the papers and I signed away my freedom.

And now I’m trapped in this house with a man I’m beginning to realize I never really knew at all—and I’m terrified I might not make it out alive….

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller packed with whiplash-inducing twists, perfect for fans of The Couple Next Door, The Silent Wife, and The Marriage.

One of my favorite authors

Amazing read… I am always so excited when a new book from AR comes out and I was not disappointed… wonderful characters and riveting twists and turns. Couldn’t put it down.

2.5 stars

I mostly enjoyed The Prenup by Arianne Richmonde. I love that Ava directly confronts her husband very early on but nothing came from that as she just acquiesced, which is contradictory to me. At 80% (2 hours left!) I knew exactly where it was heading and became bored, finding the ending unsatisfying. I love multi perspective books, but this one went over events multiple times, including wrapping up a meeting then going back to see how it came together; it didn't add anything to an already long book.

Susie James is okay. I wish she had more range, especially when we started hearing from other people.

I rate The Prenup 2.5 stars rounded up.

Loved all of it!

Definitely convoluted twists upon twists. So much gaslighting and Ava it’s all about Ava! Nothing predictable, deliciously duplicitous and such a great ending!

Narration was great!!

I have never read a book by this author. A book to put in your TBR pile

Mispronunciations

I’m really tired of all these books on audible with mispronounced words. I can maybe excuse it if it’s a word that isn’t used often, but when you can’t even pronounce the last name of the comedian Ellen DeGeneres correctly, someone famous, that’s pretty pathetic. That’s not the only mispronunciation in this book (the restaurant Spago is mispronounced), but perhaps the most obvious. You also cannot “wrack my brains”. Unless you’re a medical miracle, if you have one brain Cmon writer, editors and, producers. As far as the story itself, it was OK until they focused on Claudia and Minnie and then it just got so boring. I sped up the audio just so I can see how it ended but at that point I didn’t care anymore.

Had high hopes

At first I was engaged, but it failed to keep my attention for very long. Bummer.
