Once in a blue moon an idea comes along that once heard seems so obvious that you wonder why somebody hasn't written about it before. Amanda Owen's The Power of Receiving: A Revolutionary Approach to Giving Yourself the Life You Want and Deserve presents a new paradigm for the 21st century - a philosophy that values receiving as much as giving and demonstrates that giving is enhanced when receiving is embraced. With the formula: Believe + Receive = Achieve, The Power of Receiving presents a wholly original yet easily accessible road map for people to follow, showing listeners how to restore balance to their over-extended lives and attract the life they desire and deserve.
Inspiring stories are featured about people who have experienced life-altering results after becoming skilled Receivers, including Ken who regained his hearing after a devastating hearing-loss, Julie who met the man she would later marry, and Don who received an extra $1,000 a month in his pay check.
Based on over 20 years of research into the nature of receptivity and its link to manifestation, The Power of Receiving offers a unique vision for anyone seeking to create greater reciprocity in their relationships and more harmony and abundance in their lives.

“The Power of Receiving” is teaching me the art of receiving. Not passively waiting for life to deliver. But receptively, awake, open, and willing to let goodness come all the way in.
I’m learning to stop swatting away small pleasures. To open the door when the knock comes. To let a moment land exactly where it’s meant to…without the reflex to even the score or take the wheel. And that maybe, just maybe, my “no, you shouldn’t have” could be replaced with “mm… yes… you may.”
This book makes it clear: receiving is not passive. It’s… participation. It reminded me that receiving can be an act of respect for the giver, that it’s not about taking. It’s about allowing. I’m not fluent yet, but I like how this language feels when I speak it
Learning to Say “Yes, Thank You”

If you could sum up The Power of Receiving in three words, what would they be?
Balanced, smart, currently applicableWho was your favorite character and why?
The monsters! Because as much as we don't want to feel or even recognize our inhibited or painful feelings, we must if we are to ultimately improve.Which scene was your favorite?
Inviting your monsters...at first it was a challenging concept for me, but then I paralleled it with feeling your feelings...coping skills - extraordinary example! Also, the discussion on begging for alms resonates with me still. I have no idea how I will embrace putting myself in that position, but I at least reference it often to keep me, at least, gracious when I'm angry or troubled. What did you learn from The Power of Receiving that you would use in your daily life?
I've been using the tools since I've read it. Thank you without qualifiers, GRATITUDE, how to envision becoming a partner to your goal (loved that one!)Any additional comments?
I'm skeptical of coaching and self-help. Not that I don't subscribe to their overall philosophies, but I find a lot of fluff above substance. Ms. Owen's book is NOT like that. I am so tickled that I read/listened to it. I listened to it over like 3 times to get the concepts and practices in my brain. I've learned and improved and I'm thanking her in person next time I see her! This skeptical reader pleasantly surprised!
