Publisher's Summary
Science fiction with a dystopian, post-apocalyptic twist, listen to the complete Planetsider Trilogy as a single boxed set.
No.1 Best Seller in Space Opera Science Fiction
From book 1:
Ethan is a ranger, sworn to protect his walled settlement from the dangers of his ravaged wasteland planet. One night, a mysterious light thunders overhead and Ethan investigates, discovering a crashed spacecraft and two soldiers from a moon base he didn’t even know existed. Captain Salus and Commander Kurren have risked everything to find a Planetsider to help save their people. Ethan needs them to answer questions that have haunted him all his life – what happened to his world and why?
Seduced by the prospect of learning the truth, Ethan agrees to help Captain Salus and Commander Kurren. Disobeying the orders of his council, he travels to the UEC outpost on the moon. There Ethan gets his answers, but the truth only leads to more questions and more doubts.
To make matters worse, Kurren and Salus are not the only ones looking for a Planetsider. An enemy faction, trapped on an orbital space station, will stop at nothing to capture Ethan, and prevent him from helping the UEC. With time running out to save the moon base, Ethan agrees to embark on a dangerous mission to recover vital technology set adrift in a radiation field that only a Planetsider can survive.
But his ship is intercepted by the rival faction and Ethan is taken to the space station. There he meets the faction’s leader, who turns his life upside down and inside out. Everything he thought he knew was a lie.
Plucked from a life of ignorance and obscurity, Ethan is thrust into the center of a war that has raged for over a century – a war that created the world he grew up in. Yet fate has a cruel sense of irony, because now the survival of two entire civilizations rests in the hands of a solitary Planetsider.
An edge-of-your-seat blend of Mil-SF action & classic apocalyptic science fiction. Perfect for fans of space opera and classic apocalyptic sci-fi.
Finalist in the Independent Audiobook Awards 2020 (Apocalyptica).

Interesting mix of apocalyptic and sci-fi
This is the first to third book I have read/listened to by this author and I am glad I was able to listen to all three books at once. Each book nicely wraps up a segment of the overall story but leaves an opening into the next. We get to see the story from the perspective of many of the the planetsiders as well as the people on the moon base and space station.
I really like the mix of Sci-fi and the apocalyptic event. The radiation on the planet mutates people and they become very aggressive and cannibalistic, similar to but also different from the typical concept of zombies.
I would listen to this series again. It’s quite enjoyable.
This is the first to third book I have listened to by this narrator ( J.S. Arquin ). His style is definitely as one reading the story, but he still manages to bring out the personalities of the characters. His character voices are not overly distinct, but are mostly distinguishable. His female voices are ok. It is a very pleasant listen and his narration did not detract from the story.
There are no explicit sex scenes, or excessive violence, I don’t really recall any swearing.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Annoying
There’s something about this story that irritates me. I don’t know if it’s the narrators lack of conveying emotion, or the general story. The characters tend to become needy and romantic in dire situations and become oblivious to everything around them. They also are completely inconsistent, we’re mortal enemies and now we’re allies. You were a lier and now I trust you. The only thing consistent was wanting to turn it off.

Narrator is the downfall for me.
I know everyone can't be RC Bray, but the narration in this book was just not to my liking. At one point i was happy someone died because the voice the narrator gave them annoyed the hell out of me, I've never had that in any other book I've listened to. Imo it seemed like the narrator really did not want to read this book.

young kids, not young adults
highly suggested audiobook by audible, very disappointed with it.
I could see younger kids liking it, but not young adults.
I'm an old adult, nearing 50.
the 0lot is thin, the characters are more archetypes than people, the competency of the people involved suggest they stole a shuttle to Tru and back-door a "solution" Rather than an actual military mission.
wasted a couple hours on this and wish I hadn't.
the narrator did a good job polishing this turd.

Science Fiction & Dystopic
GJ Ogden has combined the elements of both science fiction and dystopian genres in this trilogy. Each book is filled with edge of your seat action and twists and turns the reader doesn't see coming. I enjoyed the audiobook so much that I had to purchase a Kindle copy of the trilogy. J. S. Arquin does a great job with the narration by giving each character a distinct voice. This makes each character seem more real and that adds to the enjoyment of the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

A wonderfully described story
I listened to all the trilogy and it’s approach to multiple threads running from different perspectives provide a great mix of experiences and characters to come to know. The mixture of a country life threatened and a space faring one in conflict with both politics and action make for a entertaining time.

Good but predictable story
I have enjoyed it, pretty much from start to finish. It was fairly predictable for the majority of the trilogy, but it didn't diminish how much fun it was.
My only real issue is with the reading itself. The reader does women quite the disservice. He makes a few of them sound whiney and annoying, when they're extremely strong ladies. Good books, reasonably well read.

"Temper, temper, Red Hair"
A collection of the three books comprising the Planetsider Trilogy: Planetsider, The Second Call (chapter 32) and The Last of the Firsts (chapter 72).. Together the form both a post apocalyptic and an apocalyptic tale, but one still with hope.
Unusual and well written stories with fully developed characters - Perhaps too much so as I took such a dislike to one of the central (goodie) players that I have been forced to downgrade the star rating to four.
Narration by J.S.Arquin was superb. With fully individual and appropriate voicings for every protagonist, be their part large or small, he also captured their emotions, despair, temper tantrums, wonder and love, and the text reading between speech was beautifully paced, we!l cadenced and delightfully easy on the ear. An outstanding performance and one which helped carry this reader pleasurable through from the immediately captivating start to the conclusion over 32 hours later.
I was extremely fortunate in being freely gifted with a complimentary copy of The Planetsider Trilogy, at my request, by the rights holder via Audiobook Boom. Thank you so much. I very much enjoyed being transported to another, albeit devastated, world to spend time with the inhabitants of Forest Gate Settlement, and Ethan, in particular and accompany both him and Maria, together with their various companions, on their turbulent and emotional journeys of hope, love, betrayal, fear and fighting. At times thought provoking, always edgy, yet simple, I commend this trilogy to all who enjoy military action thrillers, science fiction or are simply interested in people interacting with each other.

Great simple trilogy
A good fun story, great characters, 3 worlds in one.
Listen to all three books back to back and sorry the ride is over.

Disappointing not worthy of being a audiobook
Sorry i love these kind of books but this was terrible. Poor plot and unrealistic behaviour from characters. Adults acting like children to develop a plot was annoying.

Hudson Powell had always been a drifter, but after his father died, he vowed to turn his life around. He quit freelancing as a starship pilot and joined the Relic Guardian Force as a 38-year-old rookie. That was a big mistake. The RGF police the alien wrecks that have been found on every portal world discovered in the last century. They make sure the relic hunters pay taxes on the priceless alien tech they scavenge from the hulks. The snag is that the RGF is corrupt. The Sa’Nerra were close to defeat, then everything changed. Armed with a neural weapon, the brutal alien warriors turned Fleet crew against their own. Entire warships went rogue. Suspicion and fear ran riot. Surrender seemed like the only option. But Lucas Sterling knows that in the fight against the Sa’Nerra there is only victory or death. As a black-ops Omega captain, Sterling was selected for his coldhearted ability to do whatever it takes to win, no matter the personal cost. He knows that the only way to beat the Sa’Nerra is to fight like they do.
