Publisher's summary

"A stunning portrait of a woman blossoming into her full power…this is Alka Joshi's best book yet!”—Kate Quinn, New York Times bestselling author of The Diamond Eye

From the author of Reese's Book Club Pick The Henna Artist, the final chapter in Alka Joshi’s New York Times bestselling Jaipur trilogy takes listeners to 1970s Paris, where Radha’s budding career as a perfumer must compete with the demands of her family and the secrets of her past.

Paris, 1974. Radha is now living in Paris with her husband, Pierre, and their two daughters. She still grieves for the baby boy she gave up years ago, when she was only a child herself, but she loves being a mother to her daughters, and she’s finally found her passion—the treasure trove of scents.

She has an exciting and challenging position working for a master perfumer, helping to design completely new fragrances for clients and building her career one scent at a time. She only wishes Pierre could understand her need to work. She feels his frustration, but she can’t give up this thing that drives her.

Tasked with her first major project, Radha travels to India, where she enlists the help of her sister, Lakshmi, and the courtesans of Agra—women who use the power of fragrance to seduce, tease and entice. She’s on the cusp of a breakthrough when she finds out the son she never told her husband about is heading to Paris to find her—upending her carefully managed world and threatening to destroy a vulnerable marriage.

Nice series wrap up

Liked the twist of taking the story to Paris but with lots of references to India and the previous characters. Wanted to smack Radha a few times to get her act together, but enjoyed the story.

Perfect end to a trilogy

I really enjoyed the narrator’s performance. The story was great too. I love how the writer talks about the twists and turns fate can have and how everything works out for the best when you do what’s right for you. Lively story.

Ten Stars

When I read the Henna Artist, I didn’t know this was or would become a trilogy. What an amazing story, so captivating from the very beginning. I am a huge fan of the Asian culture and have learned even more with these books. I didn’t want any of these books to end and was so excited for the Perfumist of Paris to be released. The author makes you feel like you are right there, in the room and apart of the story. So many emotions, so much depth, so well written. I wish all the books I have read were this good!

great ending to a fabulous trilogy

While the first book of the trilogy really affected me emotionally, the second had some mystery, this book felt like a more polished book. Alka Joshi's writing is evolving while she stays true to herself.

This book focuses on Radha, the younger sister of Lakshmi who is the Henna Artist and main focus of the first book. Radha is grown up, a mother, and a perfumist living in Paris.

There's a lot going on for Radha as her past collides with her present life. There are strange goings on at work, and marital problems to add to it all.

I loved learning about perfumery even though I have allergies and live my life mostly unscented. I listened to this on Audible and loved the narration by Sneha Mathan. I would suggest reading the books in order.
