Publisher's Summary

After an EMP strands Dan in Boise, he escapes to the Idaho mountains with his new friend, Holly. She's not entirely sure what she's gotten herself into. She's straight-laced, pragmatic, and comes from a law enforcement background. Dan is a vigilante who thinks murder is sometimes the best solution to a problem. He's also a weed-smoking drinker who's constantly spouting his personal philosophy, The Way of Dan. Somehow, the two of them have to find a way to survive together in the close quarters of their isolated cabin.

All seems idyllic at first. Everyone they meet in their new community is kind and helpful. It's almost too good to be true, like they've each found a better life in the midst of this crisis than the one they had before. Dan and Holly spend their evenings sitting in a mountain hot spring with their new friends, drinking up the inventory of the local brewery and laughing into the night.

One charismatic neighbor in particular charms Dan with his larger-than-life personality, but his intensity concerns Holly. Does he have ulterior motives, or is she just being suspicious? After all, everyone has their secrets, including Dan and Holly, but in such a tight-knit community, can a secret stay buried forever?

Couldn't stop listening, more please!

As always Mr. Horton, great! Made me laugh, and kept my full attention, not an easy task. Lovin' Dan. As an addicted fan of the Mad Mick, it looks like Dan could be a competitor. Great story and Mr. Pierce is perfect as always. Thanks so much!

Why?

Why would you write a story that is supposed to be a work of fiction and use a real life HIGHLY RECOGNIZABLE person as the main villain in the story? There is no way you can hide behind the usual disclaimer that this is a work of fiction and any similarities are just coincidences. If you did not run this by him first, I hope he sues

Book 2 even better than the first. Only downside it was over to soon. I don't wright a lot of reviews but I just had to say thank you
for time and credits well spent. Please get the next one out soon. I have a feeling Dan and friends have long exciting future ahead and I will be along for the ride.

Different and thought provoking

Dan, the main character lives and thinks completely the opposite of me. It’s not necessarily due to moral beliefs, but more about comfortability and annoyance. The way of Dan, intrigues me though. It’s a simpler and less complicated way of life. I also feel that it’s important to be cautious and aware of security and those with ill intentions. To me, I can’t fathom being as relaxed and easy going as Dan! However much I differ from the main character, he is thought provoking causing me to question a bunch of ideas. Personally, I think the author is downplaying the chaos and destruction that would be going on, even in a small town in the mountains. Whichever way it would really turn out, I am enjoying the series and think it’s more of a light hearted book that one would read for entertainment on the beach or in a chair at the side of a river in front of a cabin...
