A gripping crime thriller which will delight Jane Casey fans!

He came to destroy the family. Now he’s the one in danger.

As an undercover police officer, Rob Langton is used to terrifying situations. But his new assignment is the most dangerous yet – to infiltrate the notorious Carter family, and bring its patriarch Geraint to justice.

After gaining Geraint’s trust, Rob finds himself becoming the criminal's right-hand man. The deeper Rob gets, the more danger he’s in.

Then Geraint’s horrific plan comes to light – a bomb in a public place, designed to stir up anti-immigrant sentiment. Rob is the only person who can stop the carnage, but time is running out…

Outstanding entry to the story lines

I rarely review but this one is so wonderful I had to gush about it. We get a peek at our beloved Maeve from another viewpoint (and a peek at Josh, if you love him too). Old mysteries about Rob are solved, obviously, but there is nothing obvious about how Casey tells that tale and catches us up to the present. The writing is nuanced and thoughtful. Personally, I was captivated by the examination of the effects of trauma on people who must regularly face violence and the worst aspects of humanity. Not many authors get it, IMO. This one is not to be missed in the Casey canon. Cannot wait for the next book.

Wow!

Jane Casey does it again. Every book is better than the last. Great seeing Rob and learning what was going on with him when he disappeared. He did. Great job of anchoring a book on his own and we still got to see Maeve and Josh. Fantastic book.

My #1 crime author

Loving this as a new spin-off of the Kerrigan series...Casey makes Rob just as compelling and relatable a protagonist as Maeve, and seems like he deserves his time away from the inexorable gravitational pull of Maeve and Derwent! I'm all for it, and will be looking for future installments of Rob's series!

MaeveVerse

Jane Casey has such wonderful potential with all the brilliant characters that now surround Maeve. Loved the exposition regarding Rob and the potential of Harry & Rob working together. Please Jane, keep writing!!!! 🌹

Loved It!

Jane Casey is brilliant. I really enjoyed this spinoff of the Maeve Kerrigan series and I hope it turns into another series, excellent in its own right. This book does read just fine as a stand-alone but it’s fun if you know the background of the characters. Suspenseful, twisty and memorable! Highly recommend.

Love Jane Casey

Casey keeps the Maeve Kerrigan world fresh and engaging by letting us see that world through the eyes of a long lost character. Hope we’re going to see more of him. Great story, wonderfully read. Brief appearances from Maeve and Josh are a delicious bonus. For me, best read in quite a while.
