As always, the absolute delight of reading Denise Mina is only tattered by the sadness once it is over. Fantastic narration as well.

Extremely clever, great twists

Excellent plot with many twists with a great ending. The narration is also excellent. I highly recommend this. This is one of Denise Mina's very best.

This is heady stuff. A beautifully written and compelling mystery. Denise Mina is a terrific novelist, but this may be her best.

Compelling, if somewhat flawed

I thought this book had a compelling premise - far flung but compelling. It just seemed to me that detail, accuracy, and plausibility were sometimes sacrificed to the plot and the timeline required to make the plot work, and I was unable to suspend my disbelief because of that. I just found certain inaccuracies to be cringe inducing, which is distracting. That being said, I definitely hung in there and wanted to see what the protagonist and the baddies would do, and how the plot would unfurl. I was partially rewarded. Almost feels like a setup for a sequel.
Most people seemed to enjoy the book and I certainly wouldn’t not recommend it!

Beautiful detailed

She wrote knowledgeably and accurately about a part of the legal system not often discussed- expert witness testimony- and, as usual, presented a thrilling and believable story.

Astoundingly good book!!!

A double twist at the very end, just when I thought I couldn’t bear to listen to the last two or so minutes. Characters so well-defined the listener can easily visualize them. Extremely interesting people and more
complicated than you’d expect. But the story was, to me,
so well-written that I kept following the trail. A lot of characters, a twisty story…so I had to pay attention. But it was well worth the reward. The reader does every single character in a distinctive
voice so you always can tell who is speaking. Another brilliant book by Denise
Mina!!!

Scottish accent

Scottish accent adds some authenticity but was difficult to understand. The going back and forth of the story was confusing
