Publisher's Summary

Barren, unwanted - a lot of omegas would have given up. But not Holland. Tired of living down to others' opinions, he reaches for something more and seduces the new alpha, only to fall so far in love he can’t see the moon for the trees.

Quin’s ghosts won’t leave him alone. He lives like a ghost himself, but Holland’s shining light gives him courage to reach for healing and, maybe, a family. Except, Holland has his own unhealed wounds, and he refuses to mate, until disaster in another pack reminds them both how fragile life can be.

From that disaster arises a new determination, and Quin and Holland set out to change their world. And through it all, the secret of the true omega begins to unveil itself, bringing hope and fear in its wake.

This story is full of love and family, disaster and triumph.

Thoroughly Enjoyable

I love this series and, although it is not the first in the series it is my favorite so I purchased the audible. I was NOT disappointed!! I will listen to this recording as often as I reread the books. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Beautifully Told Story

This is a long story, and a continuation of the Mercy Hills Pack. While the story is complete, the author will leave you with a craving for more Mercy Hills. A firestorm rages through Greenmoon's enclosure. Because of the laws, the gates remained locked, no one could leave, and the fire trucks were forced to remain outside of the gates until the fire burnt down. One third of the pack died as a result of the fire. Mercy Hills pack, with help from other packs, race to Greenmoon to offer aid. The story also follows the romance of Omega Holland, and Alpha Quinn. They work together to reduce prejudice, support the grieving families and orphans of Greenmoon, as well as begin a tentative relationship with humans outside of the enclosure walls. The characters are strong, compassionate, firm, and have you weeping in delight with their overwhelming humanity, no matter what form they may be in, shifter or human. The complexities of the story could not be so vividly brought forth without the understanding of the characters and situations by the extremely talented narrator, Nick J Russo. Bravo!

Such an amazing love story.

Each book reveal another layer to these complex characters I've come to cherish. After Holland and Quinn did the deed, and Quinn mentioned a future together it broke my heart when Holland replied with his deficiencies and a negative response!! Crushed!! 😢 Tears! It was so heartwarming to see how Holland dealt with Quinn's ptsd and supported him. The wedding outfit and the vows- #everything!! I really enjoy how the pack functions as a whole. The narrator did a great job with voices and expressions. I voluntarily listened to a free copy and am giving an honest review.

Loved Holland's story

As usual with Mercy Hills, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. excellent narration. Nuanced characters. exquisite world building. These stories are just so well constructed and this one delivered. I enjoyed the delicate handling of Holland's infertility from start to finish. Holland's stoeuline resonated with me as someone who struggled with fertility issues and I appreciated his story so much! fantastic book.

A Great Addition to the Series

The Omega’s Alpha is the fourth book in the Mercy Hills Pack series and a significant installment for the overall-arcing saga. The first three books of the series need to be read beforehand to get the full enjoyment from this book. I skimmed a few other reviews, and a few people mention how long this book is and that a lot happened in it. For me, that was not a problem but a huge bonus, and something I enjoyed immensely, but I also like long, epic fantasy books like The Wheel of Time series. There are many other Omegaverse books that are short and sweet (nothing wrong with that), but I’m delighted that Ann-Katrin Byrde has given us epic-length books to add to the Omegaverse category. Holland is an Omega who’s been beaten down emotionally his whole life. When he’s thrown out of his home for being barren, and left to live off the mercy of his family, Holland believes his life is over. But then his cousin Bax brings him to Mercy Hills where he gets a second chance at life and love, and finally comes into his own as a shifter and Omega. Quinn is an Alpha who’s been scarred by battles and war. When he finally comes home back to Mercy Hills, he’s ready to pick up as Alpha, but he can’t let his demons go. When Holland comes into his life, Quinn finally has a chance at happiness and love he never expected he’d get. Together, these two shifters are changing not only their lives, but are on the path together to change how shifters live within the United States. I adored the characterization of Holland, Quinn, and all the other characters. They are all in depth, complex, and interesting characters with unique personalities. The feel real to me. The plot was intricate and complex, with many moving parts, but throughout it all, the love between Holland and Quinn was strong and true. Their romance was beautiful not only for the love and fluffy moments, but also how they support and cared for each other. These two are true partners and the leaders the shifters need in this time of change and discovery. There were a few things that were odd to me when it came to the U.S. military culture (like saluting an enlisted soldier), but since this is an entirely different world, and only reflects the real world, I was able to let it go and realize the rules are different for the Mercy Hills Saga. What’s wonderful was that Ann-Katrin Byrde kept the rules consistent so they felt real and right. I love how much detail is put into the world-building and how consistent and regulated it’s all kept.

And you begin again, sometimes you lose,

sometimes you win, but you begin again. Even though your heart is breaking, in time the sun will shine and you will begin again. ~Barry Manilow~ This book was everything!!! I absolutely loved it! I read some of the comments of how long this book was and I thought they were crazy! It wasn't long enough I wanted so much more of Quin & Holland!! Their relationship was beautiful, emotional and just heart breaking all at the same time. I felt so bad for Holland and his yearning to have babies of his own to take care of. I also completely understood his resentment towards Bram. There was so much going on with this book and it was fascinating! The fire in one of the packs enclave was so tragic! I went through so many emotions when they were dealing with that situation. I couldn't believe (and yet I could at the same time), but how naive and arrogant the humans were. Even to their own kind they acted like a bunch of morons. I just couldn't fathom being that bigoted of an individual! The two children that Holland and Quin adopted were so sweet and cute! I also completely enjoyed their mating ceremony and how they made it their own! Just going and breaking down certain tradition barriers. I know the author hasn't stated it in any of the stories yet, but my conclusion of the "True Omega" is that when Omegas are actually treated right and cared for properly they have special powers that show. So I think technically all of them have these powers in some sort of capacity. I know they talked about how there are strong and weak omegas as well as alphas, but if the other Alphas and packs put more value into omegas I think they would thrive as well. Not just this one pack even though Mercy Hills is obviously ahead of the game when it comes to just treatment of omegas in general. I'm interested to see how it all plays out with the new journal that was found from the omegas point of view and I do hope that the other packs pull their heads out of their bums and get with the times.

I Absolutely Love This Series!

Especially the shifter history as it entwines within the plot of the series. The somewhat lost/omitted stories of ‘True Omegas’ and in this book especially, there seems to be a lot more spoilers of this particular part of shifter history which I thoroughly enjoy. Of all the characters so far, I love Holland - his whole persona is just magnetic and I just love his attitude - reminds me a little bit of me 😆 I highly recommend and guarantee you will love this series if you appreciate mmpreg audiobooks (this is my preferred reading format - sadly for medical reasons). The only frustration is the frequency in which they are released in audio format. I know a lot of the time that the expense is out of the pocket of the authors themselves, and that sometimes it can be at a loss, as well as the costs of the narrator too - this I wholly appreciate, but frustrating all the same when you have such a great series as this, but books that are published as far back as 2017 are only now available in audiobook format. I am so ready for book 5, but not available as yet, or a possible release date if any 😞 Please please can this be soon?? I really want to read eventually the conclusion of the packs true history and what it is that makes a true omega so special! 😊
