David Timson
David Timson talks about Charles Dickens, much loved for his great contribution to classic English Literature.
Dickens's renowned skill for keen social observation and, more specifically, his incredibly detailed knowledge of London and its theatres, prisons and inns is perfectly released in Sketches by Boz. Many of the themes he goes on to explore in his great novels are foreshadowed in this early collection of short accounts that centre on London and its inhabitants.

Nice introduction to Sketches by Boz

Timson is an enormously talented narrator, who has read several titles for Naxos audiobooks.
But he is also something of an arts historian and, apart from these Dickens segments, has assembled well-crafted audio productions on the history of theater, music and poetry.
This audio intro gave me a bite size taste of Dickens' newspaper reporting, which was the training ground for the future novelist. Not only does Timson talk about the writing of the Boz vignettes but he also includes readings of a few.
Timson has an abridged Sketches by Boz available on Audible. Another reader has recorded three volumes of Boz. He is also a good reader of early Dickens.
