Sad Necessary Awakening to the Real State of the Union. This updated edition brings us right up to 2015 atrocities and sources of hope and action.

Good message garbled in self-pity

This book could've been 25%, possibly 35% shorter if the author spent less time wading around in guilt and self-pity and spent more time on the details of the mini-stories and the overall message. A worthwhile read if you can block out the annoying interludes of guilt confessions.

This is the red pill.

It's every bit as good as its first edition but what makes it better are the current events outlined in the later part of the book. Dots connected, indeed.

AMAZING

The title gives you hints about the content, but you can never be prepared for the stories that the author talks about. You can never have imagined the extent of the manipulation of the US government and corporatocracy of the different countries around the globe, and to their heads of state. I thought I was reading a James Bond book (but of course the character of James Bond is too nice compared to this).You can never imagine that worldwide institutions like World Bank or IMF could also be implicated in such schemes and how much the big US corporates are involved in dirty international politics.

This is a must read book.

Misplaced American Guilt

How could the same book be so riveting and fascinating in the first half, yet utterly nauseating in the second half? I quit at the point where I was about to lose my lunch from overuse of the word “love”. He contradicts himself repeatedly and recycles the same tired analogies as he shreds the US military and government while essentially defending other countries for doing the same things. We are right to fear communism, Islamic terrorism, and all dictators. We are right to assert military and economic intervention in smaller countries to prevent them from being overtaken by the above three categories. I realize that Audible and its audience tends to be liberal and left-wing. I am not. I took a chance on this book because the originating subject matter is fascinating.
