Even love can die without trust.

Angel's brother, Isaac, has returned home, and the pair begins to make slow and awkward attempts back to each other. Learning how to be a brother to a grown man instead of a parental figure has Angel adjusting his behaviors and habits, and Isaac still remains a mystery. Was it merely entering adulthood that turned Isaac away from an overprotective Angel, or does Isaac carry a secret that will keep them from finally being a real family?

Daniel Macavoy, Angel's new apprentice, is torn between his bond with Angel and the grasping machinations of his father. Dealing with a traumatized apprentice with dangerous holes in his magical education, saving Daniel may be harder than Angel first thought - especially since the biggest problem is not revenge, but guilt.

The one shining beacon in his life is Simeon, Elder vampire of Boston's only Bloodclan. Four hundred years old and sexy as sin, Simeon is warrior and sage, patient and cunning. The strength Angel draws from Simeon's devotion and the newborn mate-bond between them is steadfast and true - and the fount of death magic that animates the undead lord places Angel in the midst of a power struggle for control over himself, his lover, and his family.

Through it all, Angel is beleaguered by the unwanted attention of a troll-hybrid, the adventures of a dragon in the city, and a serial killer has decided to hunt the back alleys and midnight streets of Boston.

Contains male/male sexual content. Violence, gore, sex, vampires. A cute dragon and some snark. Okay, lots of snark.

I have to confess I am a big fan of both SJ Homes and Joel Leslie so putting them both together is a recipe for success in my book.
The Necromancer's Delimma is a perfect example. The story is engaging, the characters are awesome and the action is steamy! Add in Joel's ability to bring each and every character to life and really bring the reader into the story and it shines.
The one thing I should note here is that this is most definitely NOT a standalone work. It is the second of a series and really needs to be read in order. Don't let that put you off! Grab the first one at the same time and enjoy them both. Trust me you won't regret it.
This is an awesome series performed by an awesome narrator and I am dieing to get my hands on the third book already.

Absolutely loved it

I like the characters and the relationships between them. I love all the action. And what a cliffhanger!

I have only one complaint to the author. Please don't use medical diagnoses if you aren't read up on what they actually mean. Daniel's father does not display any symptoms that should lead anyone to assume he has bipolar disorder. He seems to have lost contact with reality, which may occur in bipolar patients some times, but may also happen in a number of other mental illnesses. Please don't continue the popular idea of bipolar patients as "the classic crazy person". Thank you.

Enjoyed!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I found this to be a very intriguing second book in the series. I enjoyed Joel Leslie's narration, I think much more than in the first book. I love the strength of the various characters in these stories.

Great addition to the series

The story is a great one, Help solve the mystery , two very different people learning to put their lives together. Angle learning to live in the present and not let the past hunt him. Help other people learning to live with their magic and find their place in the world.

Angel and Simeon return in this book as the main characters. The focus of the relationship is the impact of the mate bond forged in book 1. We get to see Angel's war with himself over what the bond means while Simeon remains steadfast in his support Each character, main and secondary, has their own incident related to the overall story line which allows us to get to know them better. It's interesting to see how they all respond to danger. I loved getting to see the growth of the various relationships in the book and look forward to the next one in the series.

Joel's narration was once again spot on. Even with several background characters getting more of the spotlight, you never felt lost as to who was speaking. Each character has their own sound and accent and they fit for each person too. I love how his narration makes you feel a part of the story.

Note: I received a free copy for my honest review.

This sequel shines on its own. Angel is as badass as ever but we get to know more of Daniel and Isaac as well. The love between Angel and Simeon is growing stronger and we see how their relationship is progressing. Eroch the little dragon is very adorable as well. Great narration adds to the enjoyment. Highly recommended.

Great followup

The world of the Beacon Hill Sorcerer is amazing. This second book in the series builds on the foundations in the first book: Angel and Simeon’s deep love and growing mate bond, Daniel’s new life as Angel’s apprentice, Isaac’s new appreciation of his brother, and one adorable wee beastie. More mystery, murders, and magic appear, along with some new friends and even an Elf! A confrontation between Angel and the oldest, strongest vampire in the city, Batiste, is so wonderfully written! This book is amazing, and I highly recommend it. Joel Leslie does an impeccable job performing all the different characters with voices and subtle nuances that bring each vividly to life!

Excellent!

The Necromancer's Dance was an awesome book and Joel Leslie's narration really made the story come to life. The Necromancer's Dilemma was even better. Loved seeing the relationship between Simeon and Angel progress and learning more about Daniel, Isaac and Milly. Lots of drama but also a good dose of humor. The fae "porn" and the pigeon wars were hilarious. Joel Leslie's narration made an already great tale even better.

The first book was great, the sequel even better!
