For fans of Elin Hilderbrand, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller Pamela Kelley invites listeners to step onto the shores of Nantucket, the perfect backdrop for your summer beach book.

Three sisters, each at her own crossroads in life, inherit a Nantucket restaurant and must work together for one year before they can move on.

Mandy, Emma and Jill O'Toole are as close as three sisters who live hundreds of miles apart can be. They grew up together on Nantucket, but have scattered around the country. When their beloved grandmother passes peacefully in her sleep a week before her ninety-ninth birthday she leaves them quite a surprise. In addition to her Nantucket home, they learn that they've inherited Mimi's Place, one of Nantucket's most popular year-round restaurants. They had no idea that she was the silent owner of a restaurant, and no idea how they're going to handle this kind of inheritance.

There is of course, a catch―she left the restaurant equally to Mandy, Emma, and Jill―and also to Paul, the executive chef for the past fifteen years.

And before they can sell, all three women need to work at the restaurant for a period of one year. Now they have to examine their priorities and figure out a way to make it work, all while discovering that Mimi's Place is in serious need of a facelift. The restaurant hasn't changed in years, and its finances are challenging. Meanwhile, Nantucket is a special place, a tight-knit and insular upscale beach community, both supportive and challenging.

Three sisters, each at a crossroads in her own life, facing the challenges of a surprise inheritance in the close-knit community of Nantucket.

…for something to happen. It never did.

I almost stopped a few times, because of the narration and the boredom. It was difficult to know which character was speaking. Even worse, some female voice actors simply cannot do men. (On the flip side, some male narrators struggle with women characters.)

I kept waiting…

I love these stories - they really draw me in and I feel like I k ow all the people and places 🤩
The only thing - the pronunciation of Gnocchi and other Italian words is kind of killing me -😩

This book proves that Elin Hildebrand is talented and that just because you a write a novel about Nantucket doesn’t mean it will be any good.

Chock full of nothing but the tropiest scenarios, anyone who has ever read a single book can predict every single thing that happens in this predictably ho-hum story. It is so mind numbingly inane that it’s hard to think of it as anything more than a C-student’s middling attempt at completing the semester’s final exam — at a junior college. In Mayberry.

Stephanie Németh-Parker does the best she can with the laughable material but her embarrassing tendency to mistakenly pronounce the T in “often” leaves the listener dumbstruck by how many times the author employs the word. An odd pronunciation of “scallops” does the same.

This is bad, folks. You’re much better off re-reading The Blue Bistro (or whichever Hildebrand is your favorite) for the 10th time than even attempting to get through this basic drivel.

Beyond Basic (and boring)

Food & recipe descriptives. Realistic challenges of running a restaurant. Character development. Ending left open for more books.
