Hard to review

I liked the basis of the story however, it was hard to accept a family with so much love just walked away for 25 years....zero contact. Left a beloved father in prison....no contact ever? A mother you love, who did nothing wrong, just left? I love drama, but things didn't make sense. there were several situations that conflicted and it made the story seem unrelatable. I couldn't find commonality with any of the characters. Also, there are way too many words describing feelings....too many seizing, twisted stomachs....lips parting in surprise..etc. With every scene there was an overreaction of hearts stopping and almost vomiting. There were some good things in the story, I always love a Nantucket story. Elin is the best but even with that, some of it was hard to listen to. I may try the next one to see if it improves, but not sure yet. Just very unrelatable.

Great book but…

I have one major complaint that offended me as a Gen X’er. The Pretty in Pink reference….Molly Ringwald ended up with Andrew McCarthy, NOT James Spader!!! How did no one catch this when they edited the book!? Other than that I really liked the book and it was easy to listen to. Wish the rest of the series was a little cheaper especially for a shorter listening time.

Family loyalty

I loved each family members story. The way we were able to follow each journey was well done. The ending was powerful including the next generation in the emotional plan. There was love, secrets, and plenty of loyalty in the family. Well done!!

Easy listen

I enjoyed the easy story but feel this could have been a bit longer with more character development. This is book 1 of the series so I expect future books to delve deeper. But still 5 starts

Feel good story

While it is a little predictable, it was a nice, warm hearted, easy audible book. Great narration.
