Story
“Break Through the Language Barrier, Expand Your Understanding” The Amplified Bible is a Literal Equivalent translation that, by using synonyms and definitions, both explains and expands the meaning of words in the text. This unique system of translation allows the reader to more completely and clearly grasp the meaning as it was understood in the original Hebrew and Greek languages. For example, the Greek word pisteuo, which the vast majority of versions render as “believe.” That simple translation, however, hardly does justice to the many meanings contained in the Greek pisteuo: “to adhere to, cleave to; to trust to have faith in; to rely on, to depend on.”

Publisher's summary
The NASB 2020 is the latest update of the NASB 1995. This newest version further improves accuracy where possible, modernizes language, and improves understandability.
Since its completion in 1971, the New American Standard Bible has been widely embraced as a literal and accurate English translation because it consistently uses the formal equivalence translation and philosophy. This method translates word-for-word from the original language as much as possible; at the same time, it recognizes the need for the translation to be understandable. Millions of people have trusted the NASB for connecting with God while learning and applying the Bible's teaching and wisdom to the demands of daily life.
The accuracy of the NASB makes it a trusted choice of many students, scholars, pastors, and missionaries as they study and teach the word of God. Now on audio for the first time, listen to the NASB for yourself and discover the original meaning of the biblical texts.
This audio version of the new NASB 2020 is narrated by trusted voice Larry Williams, whose smooth tone and easily understood speech makes for an easy and pleasurable listen of God’s holy word. Take the word with you wherever you go, and make it part of every day!

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. It is the supreme authority in Islam and the living source of all Islamic teaching; it is a sacred text and a book of guidance that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of the Islamic religion. It has been one of the most influential books in the history of literature. Recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, it has nevertheless remained difficult to understand in its English translations.

The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

The secret to happiness is to acknowledge and transform suffering, not to run away from it. Here, Thich Nhat Hanh offers practices and inspiration transforming suffering and finding true joy. Thich Nhat Hanh acknowledges that because suffering can feel so bad, we try to run away from it or cover it up by consuming. We find something to eat or turn on the television. But unless we’re able to face our suffering, we can’t be present and available to life, and happiness will continue to elude us.

Whether taken as a book of faith or a cultural artifact, the New Testament is among the most significant writings the world has ever known, its web of meaning relied upon by virtually every major writer in the last 2,000 years. Yet the New Testament is not only one of Western civilization’s most believed books, but also one of its most widely disputed, often maligned, and least clearly understood, with a vast number of people unaware of how it was written and transmitted.

Very touching
This is really touching, even in the audio sample story of the rich man and Lazarus. It shines a light on how we live. Have we enjoyed the comforts of the earth, or will our prosperity be in the next world?
I have only went through Matthew so far. Difficult to understand but worth the effort, recommended.

Overall, wonderful
Excellent translation of the bible and a very good narration. Having owned about 15 different audio bibles by now, I am happy to say that this is officially the one I listen to regularly. The books and chapters are properly marked for easy navigation, the NASB 2020 is very reliable, being rendered into good English with faithful equivalence to the Greek text, and Larry Williams does a fine job reading it…Bonus! I did give 4/5 stars on performance because he is a little mechanical in some places in his reading it, which at points sounds a little unnatural while listening to it, but overall, wonderful, and in my opinion, easily forgiven. This is still great to listen to even for hours at a time while I’m at work. Good job.
