Publisher's Summary

The Mom Test is a quick, practical guide that will save you time, money, and heartbreak.

They say you shouldn't ask your mom whether your business is a good idea, because she loves you and will lie to you. This is technically true, but it misses the point. You shouldn't ask anyone if your business is a good idea. It's a bad question, and everyone will lie to you at least a little. As a matter of fact, it's not their responsibility to tell you the truth. It's your responsibility to find it, and it's worth doing right.

Talking to customers is one of the foundational skills of both customer development and lean startup. We all know we're supposed to do it, but nobody seems willing to admit that it's easy to screw up and hard to do right. This book is going to show you how customer conversations go wrong, and how you can do better.

Awesome book - keeping it to the point!

I just loved the way this book is set - there is no general talk about things, but concrete strategy and examples in every day life of entrepreneur/product/sales person. And you simple can not argue that we all haven't been in those situations and done those mistakes. Book is summing up all of those mistakes and giving you clear and easy guidance on how to avoid them and get to your ultimate goal.

Every product person should read this book now

This is legitimately one of the most valuable business books I've ever read.

I've been devouring The Mom Test the last few days.  I've been wanting to build a web app product for the longest time and have been following the Microconf/Brennan Dunn/Amy Hoy world for a few years and have never really put a couple of things together about idea validation until reading this book.  I will definitely be asking more better questions now!

The narration quality is very poor

The low quality microphone is distracting from the content so I was disappointed by my expectations of this book based on the review. There is feedback echo and background noise. There are also mistakes in the editing of the audio. Finally, most of the book in read in the same tone, so it is hard to understand what he is saying. It is my opinion that they should have hired a voice actor to read this book in a recording studio.

Easy to follow, transformative skills

I’m a product manager and this book is awesome!
I got into it to learn how to ask better questions, but there is so much more in it; how to get meetings (without spending lots of time), how to segment your market, when to ask and when to do

Read it / listen, and enjoy!
