Publisher's Summary

He's a player in more ways than one....

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hookups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he'll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he's worth a second chance. Now he's going to need to up his game....

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She's not a charity case, and she's not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He'll have to work for it. This time around, she'll be the one in the driver's seat, and she plans on driving him wild.

Loved the story but...

The Mistake and The Deal are two of my favourite books released this year. I could re-read them over and over. I was so excited to have them available as audiobooks

But as with The Deal, the first book in the Off Campus series, Audible Studios chose a terrible narrator. Lorelei Avalon's whiny, nasal voice was completely inappropriate for the characters and it threw a damper on all the witty banter I was waiting to hear between the main characters of Logan and Grace

Audible Studios you owe Elle Kennedy a pretty big apology for this and whoever cast the narrator for the Mistake and The Deal should perhaps think about actually reading the book they are casting for

PLEASE DO NOT USE LORELEI AVALON FOR THE SCORE!!!!

Second Elle Kennedy book, I've listened to and it was even better than the first!

Grace and Logan have amazing chemistry and I loved their journey. A little bit of build up, but again I loved the pace that Ms. Kennedy keeps with her stories. I don't mind a little drama for a little back and forth, but when stories are held up because of "big" secrets, it drives me crazy. Everything is revealed at a nice pace in this book. And I'm still loving the secondary characters and looking forward to more stories in this series.
So glad that this same narrator has continued for this series. She is really great.

Okay read

Enjoyed it just wish it was read by both female and male narrator! Just didn't seem to "flow" correctly with a female narrator reading Logan's part.

Unfortunately, the narrator ruins a weak book

I failed to heed reviewer references to a "not the right one" narrator on these novels. I figured "Hey, how bad can it be, since I like sports romances ... a lot."

Well it turns out that it can be very bad. The character voices are Very similar, to the point of creating a puzzle regarding who said what. Then we have the manly athletes throwing lots of fowl language around while sounding like asthmatic young girls ... or the occasional asthmatic little old lady when they are expressing strong feelings.

A great narrator probably could have salvaged the prose portraying a whining protagonist's endless introspection about lusting after his room-mate's girlfriend and other topics. But it was pretty tedious, even though I usually can summon a high tolerance for sub mid-list prose.

This book is possibly better as a print book; then you can just skim through the repetitive introspection (aka filler?). At least this would omit the distraction of a bad narrator. But I think most people will regret spending anything on this audiobook.

I'll be curious to see if Audible will leave this review up after I return this mistake.

I LOVED THE BOOK, but....

I loved this book, as well as the other books in this series (The Deal and The Score). ... Loved, as in I have re-read them more than once. Unfortunately, it loses A LOT in the audiobook. The narrator is talented as a female narrator. However, I will never understand why authors (or is it the publisher's decision) who write books with alternating POVs elect to use only 1 narrator for the audiobook. The suspension of disbelief is difficult when the tough hockey player hero sounds like a girl with a cold instead of a guy.

Other than that, it really is a great story that made me smile all the way through. The Hero really has to work to get his HEA, but not in an over the top I am so annoyed way. It was funny and heartwarming. Unless you need the audiobook because you have a long commute, definitely read the book.

Fun story, some good humor, a good guy

Some of the details are a stretch and lord knows the D1 hockey experience isn’t reflected with a lot of accuracy but who cares? Logan’s fun. Bonus points for the Drew Baylor reference!!

Good Book

The second the series and it was just as good as the first book. This one gives you the story of Grace and Logan. They deal with some life lessons just as they did in the first book and plenty of laugh out loud moments, broken friendships and forgiveness. I still rated performance lower than I normally do although she had to grow on me.

The Mistake

I loved Grace and Logans story, it was so sweet! I do wish that the audio was done by a male and female instead of just a female, but she did do a good job.

story was ok

I listened to this as it was a sequel, but it lacked the depth and intensity of its predecessor. it was a nice story and well told. However I found myself drifting off whilst listening.

The mistake

Again this story could have used a male narrator & hence the score. The story is really sweet but not enough to give you tooth ache. It is a really good story let down by the narrator. You cannot have really manly men portrayed by a woman trying to do the 'voice'
