I won't fall for my ex, even if I move in with him…famous last words.

Conned out of my business I have no other choice but to move back home to Chicago. I’m determined to rebuild everything, but I’m so broke that I can’t even afford to pay rent.

Then my first love, Sam Maxwell, unexpectedly pops back into my life and turns out to be my knight in shining armor.

When he offers to share an apartment, I’m eager to accept. After all, it's been 15 years since I last saw him, and we hardly know each other anymore.

But I was wrong—so very wrong.

The second we move in together, I realize I’m in over my head: Sam is even hotter than I remember.

More daring.

More shameless.

More…everything.

And the spark I’d thought was long gone rekindles and neither of us tries to stop it.

Sam Maxwell is my past and my present. And he may be my future too.

Give Me Forever by Layla Hagen. This is the 6th book in the series. Sam and Avery dated in high school and everyone thought they would get married. Things never go as planned. Avery's mom became ill and she had to leave Chicago to take care of her. When she left she also broke up with Sam literally breaking his heart. Fast forward 16 years later and their paths cross again. Sam gave up his job with Doctors without boarders to come home and try and take his relationship with Olivia to the next level. Well that didn't work out. While he was gone she was cheating on him and she didn't want the next level at all. Sam back in Chicago and working at one of the major hospitals needed to find a place of his own instead of living in Travis's hotel. When he found the perfect place he also found Avery again. Yep 16 years later. Sam could afford the place on his own but Avery also wanted it with a roommate. You see she lost everything in her business to her business partner who stole her designs and all the Company and had an airtight contract stating neither could be sued. Yeah that worked well. Everyone warned Sam against rooming with Avery but the Maxwell he was he did it anyway. I highly recommend this book and series.

I am a huge fan of Layla Hagen and the Maxwell Brothers series is a favorite. Forced proximity (roommates), second chance, and almost a billionaire tropes are the foundation of this story. As in all the books in the series, the Maxwell family plays a prominent roll, which I love.

Jacob Morgan and Savanah Peachwood are perfectly cast and make this a great weekend listen. I highly recommend all of these books in audiobook form.

Perfect!

Amazong Series!

I feel like the story could have been better for Sam. Avery was so iffy and would not be an adult and communicate with him. He tried so many times to get her to talk about their past and what was currently happening. She wanted to keep putting it off or change the subject. In the beginning her favorite saying was “you know”. She played games throughout the book instead of just being honest with what she felt. In the end, it shouldn’t have been him trying to make up. It should have been her for pushing him away.

Good Story but
