New York Times best-selling author Simon Green introduces a new kind of hero, one who fights the good fight against some very old foes in the first novel in the Secret Histories series.

The name’s Bond. Shaman Bond. Actually, that's just his cover. His real name is Eddie Drood, but when your job includes a license to kick supernatural arse on a regular basis, you find your laughs where you can.

For centuries, his family has been the secret guardian of Humanity, all that stands between all of you and all of the really nasty things that go bump in the night. As a Drood field agent, he wore the golden torc, he killed monsters, and he protected the world. He loved his job.

Right up to the point where his own family declared him rogue for no reason. Now, the only people who can help Eddie prove his innocence are the people he used to consider his enemies....

This is a good counter to the night side series where more emphasis is placed on secrecy rather than brute force and bluffing

Good counter

I did not like the narration. He did not do it justice. I didn't feel my Eddie.

one of my favorite series

I recently discovered a lot of Simon’s books on Audible. Mostly because I had read them a while ago. Enjoying them in audio format is a real joy! I may listen to them all—even though I read them before!

So glad Simon R. Green is on Audible

I really enjoyed this audiobook. The story goes from one crisis to another, yet provides great details during each event. It grabs your attention as you follow Edwin Drood and his confrontations with his family. Stuart Blinder narrates the story well!

Great story!

This was a really fun story and I thought the narrator did a great job

Great story and narrator!

My introduction to the series was a later book narrated by Gideon Emery, who is wonderful. Apparently the first two books are being released as audiobooks with this narrator. Between the characterization and timing it is painfully broadly comic in tone. The subtle wit and serious drama gets lost, and female characters become drag caricatures. Really disappointing. I am debating just skipping the second book and resuming the series where Emery is narrating.

Great story, disappointing narration
