Publisher's summary

In Cathy Lamb's gripping and thought-provoking novel, a woman whose memory is shattered must piece together her husband's secrets - and reevaluate her life, love, and relationships.

When Natalie Shelton thinks back to how things were before the car accident, she remembers a great marriage. She and her husband, Zack, seem as strong and dependable together as the houses he builds. They live in Portland, Oregon, and Natalie is co-owner of a successful accounting firm. They're happy, she's almost sure of it.

Yet as Natalie lies trapped in a coma, unable to communicate though aware of everything around her, she realizes that her husband is hiding something. Zack has always been reticent about his past, which she attributed to an unhappy childhood. Now the strange calls he's receiving, the apologies when he thinks she can't hear him, and her fragmented memories from the morning of the accident suggest a deeper secret.

When she finally awakens, Natalie is determined to find out the truth. Sorting through clues as her brain heals, she realizes she has a rare opportunity - to reexamine the life she's made and the man she's made it with. But as answers come to light, she faces surprising, heartrending decisions, as well as a danger that could upend her world once again, as Zack's past finally catches up with them.

Overwritten

Too corny. I stuck with it because if the Oregon setting. I was hoping the ending would be my surprise payoff. I was disappointed.

Had a great time listening to this book. Funny characters, great humor and excitement as well. Really enjoyed the whole book.

Redundant and boring:

I listened to this because I had nothing better to do and I am out of credits this month.

Tedious Beyond Words

I don’t think I’ve experienced a more drawn out, repetitive, boring story in all my life. It started out with such promise, but after several hours of listening to ridiculous chatter from “the brain injury group,” I’m about to lose my mind. We get it. There’s a coma. You need to relearn things and get your memory back. Do we need to listen to this nonsense forever before you get to the point? Save yourselves, and skip this one. I may jump to the final chapter to see who did it, but I can’t listen to another minute of this drivel.

Cannot believe I made it to the end

The narration alone is enough to make you quit this book. And the story is just not good. Don’t waste your money or credit.

Quirkly, but delightful!

The story starts out with a heated argument between Natalie and her husband Zack. But as the story continues, we meet a number of interesting characters who are a happy part of their lives. The stories within the story are attention grabbing. I can easily recommend this book for people who are tried of the usual chick lit.

Loved it

Great likable characters! Cathy Lamb takes a serious car accident mixed in some humor (at least for me) then BOOM a thriller!! WELL DONE! I listened to the audio, which is good!

Awkward dialogue and all over the place

I read the mixed reviews and decided to give this a whirl. I liked nearly all the characters, but the dialogue between the characters was awkward and just felt very fake. I think the narrator also added to that. I listened at 1.5x the speed. I powered through and just felt this wasn’t my cup of tea. It did not focus so much on the description. I felt the story with Natalie and her husband was just kind of thrust in.
