Too wordy

I loved the story line . The narrator was great. BUT there are so many unnecessary words and descriptions. “I hugged her , she hugged me” “ she laughed and then I laughed too.”
It made the whole book seem very “simple”
Oh and the sister?? ...

Intriguing….

I did enjoy this book with the exception of the character, Jules, which had me rolling my eyes over and over again. Other than that, it was a fun to listen to book by a great author.

Book was so-so

The character “Jules” was extremely annoying in that she literally talked of nothing besides sex, anytime she spoke...and her voice was very babyish. There was also a racist remark against white men that was disappointed to hear. I wouldn’t recommend the book, although it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever read.

A Lot of Good and Bad

Cathy Lamb did it again! She came up with a story that had all the emotions you could feel. I wondered at the beginning how the two stories were connected. It took a while, but I figured it out.

Soooo good!!!

This story is highly nuanced, emotional, and pitch perfect on every level. Interesting, well drawn characters, that include a passel of lovable animals. This story will make you laugh, cry, and stay with you long after it’s over. I’m a voracious reader, and this is one of the best women’s fiction with magical realism that I’ve read/listened to. Ever. Highly recommend!

Really enjoyed this book

Loved all the quirky characters; right down to all the animals. While the story seemed to be almost predictable it was still quite enjoyable and unique. The narrator was excellent.
