Susan never knew her father, but now she's searching for one of the few existing copies of a book her father wrote. The book of alchemy is held by the enigmatic Elisa, who promises the keys to unlock arcane secrets. But their student-teacher relationship is a dangerous and elaborate game of magic and mystery. Can Susan find a way out from under the shadows?

This is the second book I’ve read by this author. I find him to be quite masterful in his storytelling. Short, but thought provoking, The Making of a Shadow dives into the world of alchemy in a way us noobs can understand, while leaving a little mystery behind it. The twist at the end left me wanting more from this author.

I'm a fan of Urbancik, especially his shorter works. the world's he builds are incredible. this story is no exception, it's wonderful, edith hints of spooky and mystery all in one.

I should begin by staying I love listening to Urbancik reading his own material, so I may concede at this with bias. I was ok with the narrator. I enjoyed the main characters voice, and the narration over all. I wasn't a fan of the voice she did for the shop keeper, I feel that was a little over done until the end of his character arch when she found a tenderness even the character wasn't expecting. I liked how she did the Italian, although she sounded more English than Italian, but that's not a big deal. she captured the emotions of the character and that's what's important.

give this book a try! as audiobooks go, it's reasonably priced, a fast listen, and very entertaining!
