Publisher's summary

When Nicole visits Stiles Castle, the stately home of Lady Caroline Seaton, she doesn’t expect to stumble upon a centuries-old mystery hidden in the noble family’s genealogical tree. Once she finds that some vital details have been removed from the ancestral records, Nicole can’t refuse her friend’s plea to discover the truth and help her save the floundering family business.

Unearthing the origins of Caroline’s elusive Tudor ancestor proves trickier than Nicole anticipated, but the ancient secrets that are revealed are just as incendiary as the decades-old lies that a simple DNA test has exposed within Nicole and Kyle’s own family.

Will this be the case that changes their lives forever?

Oh my goodness
This was exquisite writing. beautiful stories in both the past and the present and how they entertains us so very clever … the characters are so believable and so very human and courageous .

Excellent narration

Narration was very appropriate for the story and not over dramatized. Good pacing, articulation and tempo.

Keep my me wondering

I really love this series. I like the way the two stories keep you guessing and wondering how it will turn out. Will definitely be getting the next book and probably be listening to it in one sitting.

Another great read (listen)

I enjoy almost everything Irina Shapiro writes! The mystery within a mystery is so engaging. While one mystery is solved by the end of the book, the mysteries within the lives of the central characters keeps you waiting for the next book! Looking forward to the next Nicole Rayburn and Redmond and Haze.

Ms. Shapiro has once again outdone herself. The characters, setting, an plot caused me to listen whenever I found a free moment. I wanted to find out what happened but didn’t want it to end. Phenomenal piece of writing!

BEST ONE YET!

I love all the Nicole Rayburn historical mysteries. But this 4th book is my most favorite one so far. The plots and twists just gets juicier and juicier as the chapters progress. About to listen to another book by Irina Shapiro. ☺️

I enjoyed this but not as much as the other books in the series

I’ve loved this series of stories and the characters that are constant throughout and their growth with the historical context that fills each chapter.
I enjoyed this book and I will continue to read the next two books
The only thing is that I feel the continuity and the depth of the story needs to be more structured, ie: the characters and storyline in each timeline need to be more clear and it’s connecting with the present day story should be given more integrity. The first two novels had this strength in the story and it’s getting a little watered down by the fourth story. Despite that one small critique I have enjoyed all of the stories in this series and look forward to reading the next one
