Story
The news is full of disturbing events today. There's war and rumors of war. There's the false recovery of the economy. Faith in the US economy is extremely low. Foreign banks have either slowed their purchases of Treasury Bonds or, in a few cases, begun unloading them. We have a current election that is rife with corruption, extreme partisanship, and outright fraud. It would appear the left in the country is ready to do about anything to see their candidate elected.

This is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but with many nuclear bombs detonated around the planet. It was no longer a topic of conversation around the dinner table as in years past. Nobody was prepared, including the world's governments. Yet the threat was always real, and the devastation was predictable. The damage was incalculable. Millions died at the points of impact. Nuclear winter spread across the globe. A rapidly cooling climate shocked humanity and all living things...to their death.

When the pandemic hit, nobody was expecting it to be as bad as it was. The economy barely survived the lockdowns, but it staggered along until civil unrest shattered people’s hope of better times to come. With it being an election year, more and more Americans were waking up to the idea that they truly were behind the curve. The hope was if they did not get sick, run out of money, or could avoid violent mobs, they would be fine.

Publisher's Summary
The End was just the beginning of the new world…
Only six weeks have passed since a super-EMP attack devastated the United States, but already, life has changed dramatically. Most of America has become a wasteland filled with starving bands of people, mobs and gangs. Millions are dead and millions more are suffering, with no end in sight.
For Gordon, Samantha, Sebastian, Cruz, and Barone, the turmoil and chaos they dealt with in the early weeks after the attack will seem trivial in comparison to the collapse of society that plays out before their eyes. Uncertainty abounds as they all travel different paths in search of a safe place to call home. The only thing that is definite is that The Long Road will take its toll on all of them.

Too many Cliches!
I cannot understand how this book gets a good review from anybody - one bad cliche after another, poor writing, no, terrible writing. Good narration. Sentence after sentence that does not logically follow the one before it. No character development at all. The head of the the drug cartel is described as "deciding he would not be poor, and soon he became the go to guy for people to get anything they want" done - total character development. I tried to like this book because I like the genre, impossible, it is a bad book and nothing redeems it.
Not recommended, not one second of it.

I am glad I waited it out! Not to be disappointed!
If you could sum up The Long Road - A Post Apocalyptic Novel in three words, what would they be?
A great story leading into another story. I love this series.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator started off reading this book really fast. Just as I was irritated and almost put it down the problem was fixed and it became the enjoyable read just I was hoping for, as the first book.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Story made me laugh and cry as I grew attached to the characters
Any additional comments?
I couldnt wait for the next book! Was not disappointed by this book at all. I am glad that the initial issue of the narrator reading too fast was fixed. I recommend this book and the entire series!

For those who enjoy a vivid apocalyptic survival based journey you will not be disappointed, but CAUTION - YOU WILL EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF SLEEP. Who was your favorite character and why?
I can't, too many to list.
Which character – as performed by Joseph Morton – was your favorite?
All around good job.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Book two, father faces the unthinkable.

There was 1 incredibly annoying part that just about ruined the book, I only hope book 3 justifies it. If not, then this would be the first time i ever read a book with such rich opportunities be ruined by the actions in 1 paragraph.

I liked the book
I think the book could've been a lot better. U wasted 8 hours having ur characters travel about 200 miles. Also ur main character is very weak and makes a lot of bad decisions to be an ex Marine. Marines are some of the most highly trained soldiers on this earth i don't think a real trained Marine would've made half the number of mistakes, and while I am aware that know one is perfect ur main character is far from what u would consider a real Marine to be.
