The might of Mars has failed. A world lost to the enemy. To oppose the coming night, Mars cannot stand alone.

Inhabited by humans and aliens together, the star system of Chimera was a symbol of peace between humanity and the non-humans called Reezh. But now, that system has been conquered by the remnants of their old empire and its imperialist church.

The Protectorate of Mars will rebuild their fleets, but alone, it will take years for them to be able to retake Chimera, let alone challenge the heart of their enemy.

But the war is far from over. To Ambassador Connor O'Hannagain, deeply entangled with Chimera's fate, weakness means they need new allies. With a powerful Navy escort, he sets off into the deep void to find the other side of the civil war that broke the Reezh Empire.

Even if he finds the enemy of his enemy, Connor must convince them to stand with Mars. And when he faces the dark secrets of a shattered empire, Connor must decide if he even can ally with those who must sacrifice innocents to fuel the warships he needs…

The entry was a good increase of the lore. It’s nice to see where the story is going and see where the series is being directed.

Solid addition

Starting exactly where book 16 Chimera’s fall left off, The Lies Arcana has twists and turns through. The captivating storyline & superb narration make for very enjoyable listening.

Highly recommend.

Fantastic addition to the series, with twists and turns through.

As it is, this isn't as bad book. I enjoyed it but I'm getting a little annoyed by the main storyline being more or less I ignored. I feel like there could be more done with the main events back home or with the Reezh.

Heck, what is going on at Chimera? I'm not sure where the author is going, and perhaps the amazing world he has created is getting away from him?

Another deep dive off the main storyline...

Love the series the only frustrating part of it is waiting for the next release !!!

It just keeps getting better

This is one of my favorite series. At first I was a bit wary over this new arc but I have to confess I really enjoye it! The narration was excellent.

The Saga Continues

When Damien retired to the mountain I got it. When his RMN lieutenant was the POV, then progressed, I was like “cool, I can live with this”. Then we got to Chambers, again, I do my best to go “cool, building up the whole series, she’s a bad ass, neat relationship with the princess aunt of mars, I can live with this.” Rotate in new side characters with POVs, alright fine. Chapter upon chapter of bad guy POVs, sure, alright. Kelly, again, there were the side books, and other stuff building her up for a major POV role.

But now we are down to *checks notes* the husband of the original love interest, who is not a mage, and totally not the beneficiary of extreme nepotism. A diplomat who just showed up in the previous book, not a mage, no real background connection. And… god I am still reading it, and I can’t remember if there has been a third POV.

I read everything Glynn writes, this is one of my top 5 series. But can we please stick to at least somewhat relevant characters? Or at least a mage pov in all the core books?

I missed the A list characters, but now we are really running C and D list characters for this whole book.

this book series has stalled out.
underlying political undertones
charters that are 1 dimensional
the names are just gibberish and take away from any story
and as they "release" the series you have to buy them again just a money grab

filler
