Publisher's Summary

A gripping psychological thriller with edge-of-your-seat suspense

Loving husband? Or total stranger?

When Ella wakes up in a hospital following a hit-and-run incident, she is scared and confused. Close to tears, her eyes fall on a get-well-soon card on the window sill, and the nurse reassures her that her loving husband will be back soon....

But Ella has never been married.

In fact, she has lived alone her whole adult life; working hard, rarely socializing, quietly harboring a terrible secret from her past.

Fear sweeps through Ella when she instantly recognizes the man who enters the ward. He is not her husband, but she knows that she must do as he says and play the part of dutiful wife. What choice does she have? He was there the night of the fire; he knows her secret, too....

Do you absolutely love twisty and unputdownable psychological thrillers like Girl on the Train, The Wife Between Us, and Gone Girl? Then you will be totally hooked by this jaw-dropping novel about the dangerous secrets behind a perfect marriage.

Leave Already!

Very unrealistic. I hate when the story just gets stupid. She had a million ways out of her situation. I kept rolling my eyes while I listened, not a good sign.

The story is so beyond stupid. What a waste of a good credit. Very upsetting.

Can't Get Through It

I couldn't get through it. Hated the narrator's voice. And if I heard Ella Bella one more time, I might have thrown up. Hated it.

Don't waste a credit

This is the hardest book to listen to. It was going no where fast, and boring as heck. I made myself listen until chapter 20, then just quit. How this book got any good reviews is a mystery to me.

Not bad not great

Although I didn’t hate this book I didn’t find it all that interesting especially the middle parts… There are definitely parts that kept me guessing and the writing wasn’t bad it just wasn’t my favorite

surprising twist

The part about the baby's sex was confusing and not sure why the writer felt it was relevant to the story but otherwise it was pretty good.

Good story, too much detail.

The story and the twist at the end were really pretty good. Narration was OK. But the level of detail was a bit much and it got repetitious. We could have had it edited down by 2 hours. Sometimes less is more.

Terrible ending

‘Not too bad’ through out, great twist near the end, but then turns into unbelievable, unbearable romantic tosh.

Pathetic weak and predicrable

So many riciculous blunders... I was astonished this book had such good reviews- it was literally cringeworthy.
I bought this due to its good reviews... but I seriously cannot understand how anyone thought this was worth listening to .

Brilliant read

There was nothing I disliked about this book. I was gripped from beginning to end.
I’ve been disappointed by some books I’ve listened to recently but the liars wife more than made up for it!

Not believable

This had the potential to be really good, but it didn't quite get there. The twist was obvious from very early on, and it became frustrating and impossible to believe when there were so many options for escape that she didn't take. I really liked the premise, but it was let down by the execution.

Implausible

An intelligent but selfish heroine who puts her own future before a kidnapped baby and work colleagues. However frustrated I was at the unlikely situation, repeatedly wondering why the multiple escape routes were not taken, I stuck with it and didn’t guess the who the lifelong abuser was.

Well I never expected that!

First I was thinking this seems too predictable. I was completely wrong. Read it and see.

Predictable waste of time

No idea how it got published - the ‘twist’ is obvious way too early. Don’t bother.

Boring!!!!!!

This book was too long and boring.
It’s irritated the heck out of me that the lead character was such an idiot.
I got a refund half way through.
