Publisher's Summary

Neither Rex nor Regina wants a spouse, but they do have needs. Ranger Rex Duncan needs a false identity - just long enough to uncover a ring of Kansas ranch thieves. Answering Regina’s ad for a temporary husband, he leaves his beloved red dirt of Oklahoma to assume that disguise. But the most obstinate woman he’s ever known confounds his assignment, and with hair the red color that has always made his heart beat a little faster.

Regina Howard needs a new Mrs. in front of her name - just long enough to reclaim her deceased husband’s ranch, since Kansas law won’t allow women to own property. When Rex answers her ad for a husband who can take orders as part of a brief business arrangement, she finds this stubborn man ignores her every command. Yet, a good man is far more than just a name....

Delightful Arrangement ☺

After reading the Publisher's summary I wasn't expecting to like this book as much I did. The story is a different western style romance that drew me in and connected me to the characters immediately. This book is a great "feel good" choice to listen to on a rainy, lazy day. Leonor A. Woolworth, as always, adds dimension to the stories she reads. Keep this book in mind if you enjoy western romances with a good story 😉

Very good western romance

I found this story to pull me in from the very beginning. The book has some very endearing characters and some I didn't trust. Typically I do not listen to many Western Romances, so this was more difficult to get a complete picture in my mind. I thought the narrator was good, not great. Some of her character voices were awesome while others blended together. I loved how the story ended with a HEA. I'm not a fan of books that don't end that way. The issue of land trusts and how women were treated was enlightening and not in a good way. I would definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.

The Ladies Arrangement

The Lady's Arrangement
Help Wanted
By: Colleen L. Donnelly

This historical western fiction centers on a widow in need of a fast marriage in order to keep the land and farm she and her husband had settled. Enter a cowboy that needs a fresh start after years driving cattle, or so he says.

The female protagonist is strong, knows her own mind yet she has some vulnerabilities. The male protagonist is much more than he seems.

The listener will be treated to unscrupples characters, good folks and wondering if a real romance will bloom.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Leonor A. Woodworth is amazing. The voices matched the vision I had of the characters.

This was a enjoyable listen!!!

Sassy, with a Mission

This is the story of Regina Howard. She is alone with her young son Jess, after the untimely suspicious death of her husband. Regina is an extremely strong willed, determined woman and will do anything to keep her home. Even if it means setting aside decorum, and marrying a total stranger. Said stranger is Rex Duncan an undercover Ranger sent to stop a swindlers ring and marry the unsuspecting Regina under the assumed name of Ben Miller, but even he is baffled by the widow. After many pointless confrontations and a meaningless marriage Rex (Ben) wonders if he hasn’t bitten off more than he can chew, give up this mission, return home, let someone else help her save the farm, so he doesn’t loss his heart to the beauty with the flaming red hair.
This was the third audible book I have been gifted from this author thank you. I love her style. All are standalone. Each one has been about a different time period, and all of them are of strong, determined women who have overcome a diversity to achieve their goal.
I also want to add the narrator, Leonor A Woolworth did a fantastic job.

A great western with a touch of romance

Regina needed a husband to make sure she can keep her land after her husband died. Rex needed a wife as a cover to bring outlaws to justice. When the two worlds collide can love to win out?

I honestly almost stopped listening as soon as I discovered this was a two character, first-person book. (I really do not like them.) I decided to give it a try though and was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the book! Both Regina and Rex were great characters. The plot was exciting and the secondary characters were good too.

Leonor Donnelly did an excellent job with both male and female characters. She made the book very enjoyable for me to listen to. If it was not for her narration, I think I would not have finished it.

Note: This is not a typical historical romance. Rather it is a great western with romance in it.

Emotional Magic Begging For More Plot

Donnelly has a lovely way of providing a deep emotional base for her characters which is performed exceptionally well by Woodworth.
If there was some way to keep that magic, but condense it down by half, with a bit more plot and character development, I’d be one very happy camper.

Sweet Innocent Western Romance

What made the experience of listening to The Lady's Arrangement the most enjoyable?

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I enjoyed this western romance, it was a good read and did keep me in suspense as I am was not really sure how Mr. Miller was going to come in save the day.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lady's Arrangement?

I feel like I was glad when Ted finally was caught for what he was doing, I was hoping that sooner or later he would be found out.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Rex comes back to rescue his new family!

Any additional comments?

The only reason why I did not give this book 5 stars was that I was lacking a little more romance, I feel like it needed just a little more and come on Rex was a hot ranger!!!
