Intense

It is very well written and fast-paced with very DARK subject matter. I enjoy the emotional twists and turns and the true humanity in the story.

Recommend this thriller

Fabulous narration by Kathleen Early, who has an incredible amount of characters in her arsenal-- with the exception of the poor German accent.
Really engrossing story by Karen Slaughter; it was my first of hers and I will order another. Definitely not for the faint of heart!

Great story

Plenty of twists and turns. Never sure about how it's going to end until you get there.

Slaughter slays again

I caught on to her books a few years ago and was drawn to the light/dark characters...before Angie and Will came along there was Lena and Jeffrey different but the same. I physically felt Sarah's pain when her husband...well read it and find out...and I vote both Lena and Angie bite a bullet which alludes to how deeply vested a reader may become so long as you read these books.
The reader has a beautiful soothing versatile voice with great enunciation yet a flowing pace so as to not sound stilted

Didn't want it to end...

...because now I have to wait for the next in the series. Excellent continuation. No sappy, happily ever after for these strong, triumphant, multifaceted characters. Very well done.

I need to know what is next for Sara and Will . I am addicted to the series wasn't til the end when I figured out what was going on and was still surprised by the ending.
